What are your best ideas for trade packages to help this team?

Andy Dalton is worth a bag of potato chips.  Recent history has shown the value.  You aren't getting anything of substance for an Andy Dalton.

It's all about need. If the Jets are 4-4 after week 8 and Dalton has put up numbers like he did yesterday for 5 weeks straight they would deal.

Burns and a third to Raiders for Adams and Chandler Jones. Don't think they'd bite but it would not hurt to send a teaser out and see how they feel. Jones is done there and they are paying Adams almost 30M per year. Getting an all star DE in exchange for an above average DE that hates you + freeing up 30M in cap has to be somewhat enticing to them. It's a win/win for both teams.

Heck, have them throw in Mr. Slot Hunter Renfrow who apparently McDaniels hates.

Hypothetical scenario:

You are Scotty 2 hotty. Just chillin, vibin at 0-3, watching the team lay another egg. The phone rings. It's the washington commies. They believe that they have their QB of the future in Sam Howell and want to bolster their pass rush.

They offer you Scary Terry and a 2nnd for Burns to be reunited with Rivera. Do you make this deal?

There’s no way a team would be dumb enough to trade away their best WR/playmaker and leave their new young franchise QB with little to nothing!!!!!

that's Panther goggles.   Andy Dalton has lots of recent tape.   Sunday doesn't suddenly alter what he has been the last half decade in the NFL.  No team is going to waste actual resources on Dalton to ultimately do nothing but be around .500.

I think the Jets are a playoff team with even average QB play. I think Dalton can provide average QB play.

We know our boy Scotty loves to wheel and deal, so you know his trigger finger is itching to make a deal we will later regret right about now.

Our most valuable assets are probably:

  • Burns
  • Brown
  • Chinn

We don't have a first round pick next year, the cupboard is pretty bare. Pretend you are Scott Fitterer and you are tasked with unfuging the current situation you helped create. What are the best trade packages that you can come up with that might help this team this year and into the future?

I am not trading any defensive stars from this team, period. The only thing keeping us competitive right now is the three guys you mentioned and all of them are those generational, core assets that you don't get rid of.

At this point, there is no option to trade "up". Anyone we trade would be a down and would harm more than it would help. I also don't trust Tepper to stay out of the way when it comes to drafting and signing free agents. Your most valuable assets are draft picks and key players.

Personally, I think you have to ride it out. We already made a horrible trade for Bryce despite all of the indicators, statistics, and recent history says that its a horrible idea. Don't double down on that mistake.

There are no quick fixes. We had the opportunity to add speed/playmakers in the draft and FA..then chose not to.

We shouldn’t mortgage anymore unless it’s for future assets. We should be done in this dishing-out-picks phase and should be looking to collect more to make up for what we’ve lost.

YGM for a 5th is about all I’ve got.

Nope. I'm letting Fitts sink or swim with this roster he has assembled. If he can find some FA pieces or swing some low level trades involving late round picks or non-core players, fine. But I'm not letting him trade anymore valuable assets either in terms of players or future picks trying to band aid up these shotgun wounds. This is either gonna work or we're in the GM market this off-season.

This. He made his bed, now he can lay in it. Fire him at the end of the year.

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
