This is not typically how I roll.  But re: the title--it really isn't too early.  

He seems like a good dude, he had his success, SB win as an OC...but his hire had the same weirdness that rehiring Hurney and the Hornets rehiring Clifford did.

I gave it some consideration as he built the staff, seemed super promising.  We heard the players who came to praise the crew we brought together, we heard talking heads hype this coaching situation.  It has just been an unmitigated disaster thus far and we're about to play a league top Lions team and then Miami.. 0-6 is coming folks.

Things still feel directionless. They don't trust Bryce.  Bryce doesn't trust himself, the playcalling is awful, the OL is depleted, the whole team seems to be in a tailspin.  

They sold us a few things:

  • Playoffs were in the cards
  • We built the defense first, offense second, and then had the opportunity to give up assets bc we just needed a QB to insert

They were setting things up as if we were ready for takeoff.  

Then it doesn't quite happen out the gate.  Okay, that's understandable.  But, thing is, even in loses, you want to see SOMETHING.  Some type of WR stepping up, some chunk plays busting out here and there, some nice moments from a guy we spent huge capital to get.  We have gotten nothing. Zilch, zero.  Nada.

This is one of the most embarrassing things I've witnessed as a fan of the Panthers, Blackhawks, Braves, and Hornets.  I've just never seen such flatness, such uninspiring play.  Poor team construction, a QB that seems entirely frazzled.  This entire situation seems awful.  

Rhule was at least a dud that you could say was a dud, bad hire, not NFL caliber.  Reich is this "regarded" figure that is absolutely failing right now.  And the constant talking heads saying Bryce has his moments, or Reich just needs time are looking more silly by the day.

Talk me back into this please.

This coach is outdated. The GM has made every wrong move possible. Everything is broken. 
 

Only way to fix this is to blow it up and see what a new coach/GM duo can pull out of BY on the rookie contract. 
 

GM - trading up for Corral while missing on Sam Howell. Sitting here with Burns wanting a top 3 DE contract while producing at the lowest tier. Zero WR’s to allow us to throw beyond 10 yards.

The next GM hire is crucial.

You have to give the guy full control and he has to be given three years to sort out this mess of a roster.

If you fire Reich, might as well try and trade Bryce by the deadline too.

If you fire a HC 4 games into his tenure, after he traded away the farm to move up and take a QB of Bryce's size, while he's struggling this much... good luck attracting even a Rhule level of a HC to the job.

We're stuck with Reich and Bryce for at least 2, maybe 3 years.

If Reich doesn't give up the playcalling and just be a MFing HC!? Let people do the job you hired them to do! If Thomas fails,you replace him. Period! He's gotta stop holding these grown mens' hands and trying to protect them from the NFL! They're paid very well to do what they do, and if they ain't up for the challenge, then get them out. If Bryce can't push the ball downfield, then get him out of here. This ain't a league for the weak! But honestly, I think he's the one preventing everyone else from being their best. Just get out of the way!

This is probably the best and easy “fix” to make. Reich stinks!!!!!!! Just doing that and then Brown calling plays would be such a welcome change.

      I mean, Brees was a sub 6' guy too(although they listed him as 6 foot). It is not a worry if you are an elite player. Even Flutie Flakes was able to succeed at the NFL level at his height. All QB's still need throwing lanes and different QB's play the game in a way that maximizes their abilities so they can be successful. All these sub-6 QB's we are talking about have had more NFL success that easily 80+% of 6-3 or better NFL QB's. That's why I keep beating this horse. It isn't about measurables, it's about abilities. That extends well beyond the QB position. Xavier Legette has elite abilities and measurables. Yet a slight little midget with no where near the athleticism is an infinitely better WR(McConkey). Jonathan Mingo is way more athletic than Puka Nacua. How is that working out? Never hyperfocus on measurables. It's a small part of a much bigger picture.

      His legs looked limited in school to me. Good enough at that level but it never looked NFL level. All the guys you mentioned made Bryce look slow and limited. What propped him up was other non-NFL level guys on the field.  Absolutely on the 2nd part. That's becaude when he bails he doesn't have to ability to make it work more often. Lots of times this year and past teams let him scramble because they obviously didn't see it as a serious threat. Hell Payton was allowed to run because he was so slow and took off so infrequently. Bryce isn't that bad but he is closer to that than to Murray.

      This.  Its not tennessee bad, but the Ole Miss offense is a very hard one to correlate to nfl.
