If you want a #1, you go get Devante Adams

I’m waiting for the day people realize that having a “number 1 receiver” does very little to move the needle for a team. The Raiders are a perfect example of this as they’ve regressed since getting Adams.

I agree.  All you want are receivers who can get open and catch passes, and a qb who can get it them.  The numbers thing is mostly for fans and sportscasters.

This organization is in shambles because of Tepper. I really don't know any player who is already establish that would want to come here unless we paid them a ton of money. The best we can hope for is someone who is trying to get a chance to prove they belong, like a Frankie Luvu.

Those of you convincing yourself that Jerry Jeudy is something special, you're part of the problem. Adams is rotting in Vegas. They'd probably take Burns straight up at this point too. Hell throw in Chinn. If you want a number 1 it's going to cost, and teams that have bonafide #1's aren't going to get rid of them. With Adams being frustrated, that's who should be on the phone. We missed on Hopkins and others, you have a chance to right the ship, you go get Davante Adams and quit playing.

First of all, no one said Jeudy was anything special, but that he has potential on paper, is still young and has not even hit his prime, and is highly affordable.

Secondly, Adams is not a spring chicken anymore, and is looking for greatness, as well as those huge pay checks. Why would he want to come here?

Buying extra low on a disgruntled receiver who already showed flashes he can still be a bona fide #1 this year? OK. Giving away 2 young defensive pieces or alternatively any meaningful draft capital? Heck no.

Barnwell has Davante as worth a 2nd rounder due to his age and massive contract. Would they take our 3rd rounder since it'll basically be a late 2nd? Maybe if the stink gets big enough. I'd definitely consider that to expedite Bryce getting weapons and developing. But more than that? Nah.

problem isn't them getting a great WR not mattering.

problem is they got Josh McDaniel to be there head coach.  Some coaches just ruin stuff.  The same time you saw the best WR in the game "decline" under McDaniels......you saw arguably the best slot WR in the game disappear overnight.

McDaniels sucks.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
