Even if we fire him I really do not trust our current scouting staff in this upcoming draft. Most teams fire a GM but keep scouts in place through the draft as a lot of the work has already been done but I think there's no way it can be worse fully overhauling the front office starting now (or a week from now I guess) and having the new staff prepare for the draft on short time. Everyone involved in football ops in Carolina right now should be gone asap. And Tepper needs to remove himself from football ops, too bad we can't force the owner out, unless someone can dig up some misconduct history

They have put in major hours to scout this kid to pair with Bryce for our 2nd round pick

There’s really no reason he shouldn’t have been out the door with Reich.

Agreed and he also should have been gone with Rhule. Heck, I wanted him gone before 2022’s draft because I hated his 2021 draft skipping over solid OL for guys who never started for us or won’t make it to then end of their rookie deal. Add in the trades for Darnold and Henderson and I thought he was a shitty GM and we got proof in 2022/2023 that he was a super shitty GM.

I see this argument, but another scouting department... especially if they are in the NFL should already have some scouting in place for prospects. It may be a bit of a scramble for the deeper guys, but your round 1-3 maybe even round 4 guys you should have a grasp on no matter what franchise they are coming from.  It usually never happens, but I think in this case with the amount of work that will need to be done, it should happen.

    • not sure if any of this is news, but a good summary of our situation heading into training camp.  It's sure gonna be good getting Derrick back. After missing virtually all of the 2024 season, Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown is aiming for a full return to the field during training camp later this summer, per Joseph Person of The Athletic. Brown tore his meniscus in Week 1 and underwent season-ending surgery that has kept him limited through spring practices, though he did participate in “walk-throughs and light side work” during mandatory minicamp, according to Person. Brown originally stated a desire to be ready for the 2025 regular season, but his timeline appears to have moved up. Brown’s injury was particularly disappointing after a career-best 2023 season. He led all defensive linemen with 103 total tackles and was named to his first Pro Bowl, earning him a four-year, $96MM extension from the Panthers in April 2024. While he has never been a prolific pass rusher, Brown’s size and power has consistently commanded double-teams and created opportunities for his teammates. His impact was evident last season, as Carolina’s run defense ranked dead-last in his absence. The Panthers spent significant resources this offseason on defensive line depth, which should allow them to manage Brown’s usage more carefully coming off a major injury. He played a whopping 940 defensive snaps in 2023 (89% of the team’s total) and was on the field for almost every play before his injury last year. With new teammates Tershawn Wharton, Bobby Brown III, and Cam Jackson ready to share the load, Derrick Brown can take a lower snap share to stay fresh and healthy for the entire season. Here are a few updates on other Panthers returning from injuries:     https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/06/panthers-injury-updates-brown-tremble-barno-wallace
    • Yeah it's kind of like they don't want him on the team anymore for some reason
