Panthers interview requests

Has anyone noticed that on both the GM and HC coaching search, some come from the same team?  I may be reading too much into this but it almost seems like the Panthers may want to pair a GM and coach who has already worked together before.

Matteo+MacDonald or Matteo+Monken from the Ravens

Greenberg+Canales from the Buccaneers

Frank Smith spent time with the Saints which Kai Harley was a part of the Saints during that time

Dan Morgan and Dan Quinn worked together in Seattle and so did Ed Dobbs as well.

it's just interesting about all the connections...

Morgan should also know Canales super well from their time in Seattle.  They were together for 7 years.

I’m fairly certain Vrabel to NE is already a done deal. You don’t let a guy like Belichick leave without a solid plan behind him. And a guy like Vrabel will have options. I’d like the Panthers to interview him (maybe you end up with Vrabel and Arthur Smith getting the band back together somewhere) but I don’t see it happening on the Panthers. My wildcard is Vrabel going to the Chargers.

Vrabel is the best coach candidate IMO and the Chargers is the best gig.  I'd hire him today if I were them.

Patriots is a tough spot.  Following a legend is never a fun spot.   And the roster sucks.

Listened to WFNZ this morning…seems like the consensus is Head Coach will be hired first, which is the more modern approach, I guess. Seems like hierarchy was a huge issue this year, so not sure why we wouldn’t shoot for the GM first. Prolly because Tepper wants to have the say, like the selfish narcissist he is.

Bassackwards, like most things he does.

If the Panthers hire a defensive HC, they should just stick with Evero

I would do that before I'd hire some on the current interview list, for sure. Evero is definitely in my top 3-4.

Harbaugh

Johnson

Evero OR MacDonald

    • In that case its in his best interest to fully recover.
    • Looks like we're fifth in running plays/play action plays when in the lead and about 10th in the league when we fall behind.  The biggest thing I take from this is not that we drop off like that, because every team does, but that we drop off so much. A lot of the best teams don't  drop off much, depending on the game situation, preferring to stick to their game plan through out. Some of those are very good teams. Baltimore barely deviates from their run/action heavy plan. At the other end, KC also barely deviates, but they have one of the least run oriented attacks in the league by these stats. On the other side, there are teams that make even bigger shifts (based on last year's performance) and they are teams that for various reasons found themselves in desperation attempts. Dallas, Atlanta, the Browns, Bucs and Bengals were all literally throwing out their game plans and trying to either lean on their top end QB or were just frantically trying to create something downfield. Considering the years of us completely abandoning the run (oh those Matt Rhule days), maybe we are starting to stabilize. Don't even get me started on the Reich days...
    • I am kindof in the camp that its not an addiction for him just a dumb ass kid who didnt think he would get caught.  I think the "addiction" angle was the story they went with in hopes of not being banned for life   But I doubt we show interest as I think he is going to be pricey (Draft capital wise)
