That too, which is wild to me that the guy who was here to put us in this mess is now picking coaches. Hoping for the best, that’s all I can do.

He did great in Seattle and Buffalo.  I wouldn't write Morgan off yet.  I'm sure it's a short leash though (as usual).

Tampa Bay was 18th in scoring and 20th in yardage. So basically a little below average offensively. I honestly have to wonder... did we just hire the guy that we made a HC candidate because we tanked Baker Mayfield so hard last year? Oh the irony. Because Baker basically just bounced back to roughly his Cleveland level of play this year.

You’re right, il try to remain positive. The Bryce hire thing I said, I didn’t mean Bryce picked him, I mean it feels like Tepper hired him with the sole purpose of focusing on Bryce instead of the team. Build the team and culture first, the rest will follow.

What the hell is Bryce Young going to do with a dowfield specialist like Evans? On the one hand it would be a giant waste of his talents, but in a silver lining sense perhaps Evans could make occasional lemonade out of those lemons Bryce likes to toss downfield. Not sure why he'd want to try though.

Even if Evans walked down the field...the ball would still be underthrown.

Canales has been a guy NFL nerds have paid attention to for a bit — this is a promising hire. Of course, we are the Panthers and we shouldn’t inflate expectations, but it’s promising and a refreshing direction.

Canales managed to make Baker relevant again

there are similarities with Yoing and Baker

Smaller size.  Not great arm strength etc

better rolling to see the field

might as well hope as not

i do not believe young is the answer in the nfl but maybe improved this year with a simpler offense

designed for him vs against

as Einstein said paraphrased ‘if you expect a fish to climb a tree, you will always be disappointed’

tbf "No retreads" has been the Huddle mantra since Reich was fired. You can't avoid retreads but also get a guy with lots of experience.

Sure you can, in general, at any level. I can't comment on the current batch of candidates but it's common for guys to have been HC at a college program of some sort.

I'm not pro or con in this area, just saying that it does make sense.

It could turn out to be good, but I definitely have concerns...

- nobody else was pursuing him for a second interview that I saw

This! Also would bet there were no second interviews with other candidates because their agents said not interested. We are going to have to get lucky for this to work.

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
