Opinions on Burns statement last season

We all know what he said about playing not to get hurt. If he gets tagged and doesn't get traded or get the $$$ he wants, will the next season be the  same half ass player he was last year.

Would you trust him to go all out or will he be dragging his ass along the turf again?

Saying what he did, just enforces my belief that he can't be relied upon to give 100%.

What do you think?

You know Peppers would disappear sometimes but at least he established himself as a monster first. Burns is a taller Everette Brown. He has one move and his legs are tree limbs. He gets bullied in the run game.

He should take the tag and prove himself.

Pepp was never washed out on single blocks by TEs regularly tho Season 5 Idk GIF by Paramount+

He definitely was. But idk, who’s to say a quicker and lighter player like a TE may fair better against Peppers on occasion.

But Peppers also blocked FG’s , intercepted passes, scored TDs, forced fumbles, played TE sometimes. There’s no comparison.

The best DE this team ever fielded since Peppers was Greg Hardy no contest. Shame he was a psycho.

Agreed he either needs to be paid or tagged and traded. The comment was a huge red flag on his effort. I don’t completely blame him but basically admitting you weren’t giving it your all doesn’t help anyone. Can’t deal with another year of that.

I would be scared to death to commit anything substantial to a guy like that.

He wont even put in the work to show he belongs in the same contract range as the Bosas and Garretts, he just wants us to take his word for it.

What happens when he gets the $ he wants? Does he check out completely?

We are in a lose/lose situation. You either tag him and take the half assed effort or let him walk for nothing.

Nobody is trading anything worthwhile for him on the franchise tag the ship has sailed on getting assets in return.

Imagine Luke saying some poo like that. Would never happen. This team desperately needs toughness and leaders. Signing Burns goes directly against that sediment and will leave a bad impression to the other players. Thats not even going into whether his play is objectively worth what he wants.

Honestly, set him free if there's not a trade partner if he doesn't sign a team-friendly deal that is more appropriate to his performance levels.

A guy that is playing not to get hurt is pretty much just here to cash checks and well, we've had enough of that over the years. His stats don't warrant this much attention or such a big chunk of the salary cap. I like the guy and was amazed at how he played here at first. Then when the negotiations started, well, he just went all Meh. He says he still loves us, but man, he hasn't bought us flowers in a loooong time, yanno?

If he doesn't want to be here, let him go, get the comp pick and write it off. No one year deals, no overblown contracts, just let him go. It's sad but true, there are edge players coming out of colleges every year and some of them can get both 8 sacks a season AND play defense against the run.

He's a good player, but he isn't a HoF player, so let's quit treating him like he is.

    • Good.  fug Brian Kelly.  Fake ass bitch.
    • I stopped watching after the first series in the second half because  Losing  to better teams  is one thing, but blowouts?  .and those blowouts happen far too often …they are becoming his MO as HC against better teams  I do not think Young’s being in would’ve made any difference    Why? Against the 31st run defense in the league,   he came out throwing….who didn’t know that was going to happen.    Throwing against a team that was ranked 31st against the run is mind boggling when the Panthers strength is running the ball  His personnel packages are totally predictable  (Horn)    he makes no adjustments for what he sees on the field  .He appears to have  zero game day control or communication with Evero.   Canales single handedly neutered  a player that had 400 plus yards in 2 games ….that takes some real genius there.   I read he was ‘researching’ how to use 2 running backs effectively i mean, for  fug sake, are you kidding me.  Had the ball to Rico. When he gets tired, bring in Hubbard.  This is not hard   I feel sorry for the Panthers fans who  sat through that today
    • There is no excuse. I can't get past his decision making. If Dave thought the last game and this game were the right game plans and the guys just didnt execute, well you cant have someone like that anywhere near the team. It's just means his intellect is far below bad. Though I don't think it was just Dave being really really stupid when it comes to playing football.  I'm sorry, but this has Tepper's fingerprints all over it. There are only two things I think happened. Tepper is telling these coaches what is going to happen in game. If Tepper is still doing this, you can go ahead and forget the Panthers while he is there. If he is STILL telling coaches what they will do, it is completely over for the Panthers. He is too dumb to give any input. If Tepper is coaching, we would be better with no coach. He is really that stupid. But there is a good chance they threw that game. Everyone better hope that the Pamthers threw that game (I honestly don't see how they couldnt have thrown it.) Only people who watched the game would really understand what happened. If you watched the game you know. But we better hope we get caught throwing games and the team gets absolutely destroyed. But that they find out Tepper was involved and they have to kick him out of the league. This is the absolute best scenario for the Panthers. And no, I'm not joking. This is the chance to get Tepper out. The internet needs to find a connection to Tepper, or the Panthers are done. Tepper is really that stupid.
