Division Talk: Falcons are heavy favorites to land Justin Fields

Recommended Posts

I don't see any team looking at Justin Fields body of work in the NFL and going "Yep, that's $40 million worth of QB".

I liked Fields coming out.  I'm not sure how much of his lack of production is the fault of the Bears.  What I do know is that he's not done enough to warrant a payday yet.

You don't pay the 29th most accurate passer $40 million per season.  You just don't.

Ever since Cam...I'm intrigued by running qb's...they just add a hell of a wrinkle in the offence. Not sure can handle the abuse Cam took but you have to account for them....BUT!...being a buckeye fan...im not big on their qb's...but Stroud has proven me wrong...but hes still only 1 outta the last 50 years thats been worth it..

In theory, you could trade for him without a new deal. If he plays out of his mind, tag his arse.

But I get da bears moving towards caleb williams cause they have 200 million questions about fields. I forgot who it was(brian urlacher??) said this, it goes along the lines " If you even thinking of drafting a QB, fields is not the guy or hes not your guy". Im less of a 200million fields than so-so williams, but williams contract will not break your team if he plays poorly.

fascinating to see how this plays out.

fyi at one point david fuging carr was the highest paid QB in the NFL, so was Jimmy "fuging" garoppolo. Fields at 40 is not crazy in these times, I mean I feel that way, but its not crazy talk. Theres talk of dak getting 60per and we have seen him for a while.

Looking at the QB market- new panther numbers guy tillis looks like the smartest man in NFL.....

The Falcons have a pretty good versatile young playmaker at RB and a possible stud TE if he develops but what else really?

Fields has to take several steps as a passer for me to be too worried about him joining the Falcons. We'll see.

Yeah if the Falcons can get him cheap enough they can try it for a year.

I think, if I wanted Fields, I might remember they are open to players coming as part of a trade package.

Some kind of pick plus player deal and don’t write a new contract until you have seen him play for you, how bad could you really get hurt?

Pretty much agree with all of that.

Thoughts?

Article:

The Bears seem to be preparing to trade quarterback Justin Fields. The Falcons might be preparing to trade for him.

The Falcons are the overwhelming favorites to land Fields in the odds set by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Atlanta is at -225, with the Bears next at +240. The Steelers come in at +340, and the Raiders are at +800.

The Patriots have +1500 odds, with the Broncos at +2000.

At one point, DraftKings removed the odds. They have since returned.

The Bears need to move quickly, if they’re going to trade Fields. With other quarterbacks available, seats will be filled quickly as free agency approaches. The longer the Bears wait, the greater the chance there won’t be a taker.

That could force the Bears to keep Fields until after the first round of the draft concludes, hopeful that a team targeting a quarterback in round one doesn’t get the player it wants. If that doesn’t happen, the Bears could be stuck.

Teams can agree to the terms of a trade currently. No deal can become official until March 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

I think they reach for JJ McCarthy. Cheap rookie contract etc etc. Just a QB away they might think. In other NFC South predictions.  The saints take offensive lineman that we also coveted. Lastly the Buccs steal a WR to replace Evans that we also were looking at.

Hometown kid, grew up a Falcons fan, dad had season tickets, Mr. Georgia in high school, started out a Bulldog, top recruit nationally, hometown legend.  Great fit for that offense, fans will picture him wearing #7 running around, I definitely see this happening.
