Voters have officially chosen not to give a $2 billion handout to the billionaire owners of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

To be clear, it was an extension to an already-existing tax that supports the current sports complex where the stadiums are at. The question largely failed because the downtown stadium idea is stupid and rushed, and the data backing up the benefit is dubious at best.

At least they put it to a vote. Plenty of politicians have taken it upon themselves to give tax dollars to billionaires for stadiums before

That's what surpised me. Usually doesn't the local council say fug you to the public and give the billionaires whatever they want. Like 40 ticketed concerts a year creates some massive trickle down effect to help the working class BS

The high quality food at some of those places will give you something for damn sure.

A key point here is that the sports complex is publically owned . So they would not so clearly be giving a handout to billionaires but improving publicly owned venues.

Can't figure out where these billionaires got the idea that the common worker should pay their taxes and expenses.

It's worth a shot in asking.  Politicians will sell their sole for a dollar so they are easy to manipulate by billionaires to get it on a ballot. When you have no conscious nothing is off the table.
