Kiper's latest mock has us trading 33

Recommended Posts

That’s a dumb trade, we have the premier pick in the second round and we trade down for what will most likely be a downgrade next year draft. We need to stop trading period and take the best WR with that first pick in the second round

Trade the first pick in the 2nd rd for the 16th and who knows what next year?

Saw a mock that had Denver trading next years 1st for 33 so they could grab Bo Nix. I'd do that.

There's gotta be something to this. Almost every mock that I've done includes us getting offer packages that include a 2025 #1. There has to be something in their algorithms that make this a realistic possibility.

If that happens, no one would criticize Dan and he should take such an offer first and figure it out later.

EDIT: Case in point, I started a mock literally right after this post and got 2 offers from DEN and SEA, both of which included a 2025 1st. The SEA offer was vastly superior:

We're gonna be on the clock for a looooooong time at #33. We'd be crazy not to listen to the offers coming in.

If the Panthers have any intentions of trading #33, I think it will happen before they get on the clock, not after.  Same reason any deal for the #1 pick is usually before the draft. No reason to wait and it would be to the Panthers advantage to trade the pick ASAP, if that is their intention, so they can start building a strategy for whatever pick(s) they end up with.

If the Panthers are on the clock at #33, then I think that means they will stick with it

Why friend?

It's not enough compensation for the #33 pick.

You'll be fielding calls all night after the first round with teams desperate to trade up for that guy that dropped out of the top 32.

I'm not opposed to trading the pick, but I want significantly more than it's value.

Next year's first and this year's 3rd? Sure.

I don't really see the point in trading 33 if you're not getting an extra pick or picks this year. You're giving up the opportunity to take whoever falls out of the first round and only get what's likely a mid second rounder 12 months in the future.

Sure we don't have a second rounder next year but we have a first, so if they want to get that second rounder back just trade down in next years first round. That's assuming Bryce works out. If he doesn't they'll have bigger problems than not having a second round pick.

Maybe if they add picks this year, but even then - it'd be a hard sell for me.

This might be the best draft in recent history for the Panthers current needs and draft picks situation. There will be starter level talent at positions of need for this team at 33, 39 and 65. Could come out of this draft with the best receiving group since Smitty, Moose and Ricky Proehl. And solidify one of the strongest olines they've ever had. And this is coming after a year when they had their worst receiving corps and olines ever. Would be such a Panthers move to screw that up just to accumulate draft capital. Capital that they'd likely screw up anyway.

They will effectively be on the clock like 24 hours.

Why would a team trade for #33 without knowing who's available?

We have the very first pick of Day 2. After all of the first round dust has cleared, all of the infighting and wrangling has gone on, and with a full night to consider the options and see what gem has fallen --- we'd give that up?

A team that sucks so bad that the only four surefire starters on the team are a DT, a RT, a punter and a kicker???? And we're going to trade away that prime piece of real estate for a much later second rounder and one for next year, too???

fug that.

Keep 33, pick the best damn player left on the board. Get the guy that is going to make the other 31 teams regret that they missed out on him.

Maybe, maybe think about trading our pick at 39, but only for a king's ransom. Or pick the OTHER missed gem.

Everyone wants to be all fancy and trade around. Look where that got us. Take your picks. Make your Team. Win some games. I know those are alien concepts around here, but poo man, don't get clever get better.

Next year's draft is supposed to be strong for WR as well, so you could actually end up getting a better receiver (if that's what you choose to pick).

If the value is there at 33 for a receiver that strikes your fancy, then fine. If you think that you can get better value later in round two, or even round three, you trade it away.

Denver doesn't have a 2 to trade this year because they got...

Sean Payton.  Lol.

If they want to give us their 3rd, next year's 1 and 2?  Sure Sean.  You got it.

tank mode confirmed
