Falcons Tampering: Punishment Speculation

So, this is primarily from Florio...who's a bit annoying to say the least.  But it's interesting speculation about the imminent punishment for the Falcons and the likelihood of it being a draft pick.

Interestingly enough, there's a suggestion the Falcons could end up forced swapping 8 for 11 with the Vikings.

Precedent being set last year with the Eagles and Cardinals for the tampering in the hiring of Gannon as HC.  Eagles received pick 66 and the Cards dropped to pick 94 and received a 5th rounder this year.

Wouldn't change our draft plans but could help the Falcons to miss out on a blue chip type like Turner or Odunze.

OK, I understand taking a draft pick away, but swapping with the Vikings is a move that also hurts the Giants.  The Vikings already have 2 firsts, and the Giants who need a QB and are sitting at #6. That would be rewarding the Vikings 150 points.  I think they should take the Falcons 79th pick (3rd) and give it to the Vikes--but this swapping thing has a victim or two (It could hurt Denver as well) in the first round.

Yeah swapping picks is rewarding another team. Just take away their pick like they did with the Dolphins the other year.

That seems like a light punishment to prevent tampering in the future, no?  Like, if you really wanted a QB and the tampering was the difference between getting him vs not getting him, then would it really hurt to lose a few spots in the first round?

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
