Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3

I've seen some bad drafts in my close to 30 years as fan, but this is a doozy.

All three of these picks are straight out of the Fitterer playbook.

We need players who can get on the field and play. Not raw athletes with physical tools that haven't put it together yet.

Average Backup Or Special-Teamer

Strengths

Explosive athlete.

Rangy with good chase-down gallop to the sideline.

Burst and change of direction make him a toolsy rusher.

Hands are very sticky when he gets his chances to take the ball away.

Lateral agility to expand his short-area tackle success.

Weaknesses

Play recognition and football instincts are lacking.

Frequently fooled by misdirection in both run and pass games.

Lacks patience and leverage in his scrape, allowing cutback lanes to runners.

Pulled out of position by bait routes in his spot drops.

Pass rush could use more elusiveness when diving into A- or B-gaps.

interesting, literally every weakness is coaching related. I guess they feel he didn't have good development at uk and they can provide it. He is Shaq's replacement, so he won't play much this year anyway.

DJ Johnson?

I feel certain Morgan had a lot of input there

it’s largely the same folks.  I think Fitterer would refer to his right man and former LB on that pick as well as the staff still largely in place

I meant ILB, the position he played, not Edge, but I understand where you're coming from. I just want to believe they got their poo together this time and that Fitt was the main problem. I like what Morgan has done so far

DJ Johnson was an Evero pick. He was fired up when we called him.

We were 2-15. I disagree. You build and anticipate upside.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
