Clowney on Bryce Young

Hasnt Clowney only been around Bryce for less than 24 hours?

I’m optimistic that Bryce will be much better with an O line, weapons, and a good coaching staff…….but those comments worry the hell out of me. Cam already spoke about Bryce needing to find his voice and it sounds like he’s not inspiring the team much from a leadership perspective

It’s strange, usually little guys have big attitudes in the NFL. You almost have to. The lack of fire in Young is very concerning.

there’s a difference between being a vocal rah rah extrovert and commanding control of the huddle. iirc, reports were that his understanding of the playbook and game in general made him respected when calling plays.

Having a loud voice doesn't always mean you're a good leader. Everyone has different personalities. Class clowns are loud and obnoxious, that doesn't mean they were the brightest or greatest. Bryce's dad is a psychologist, I think they would know and understand how to manage personalities and know when and what to say when the time is right.

What does Bryce's dad being a psychologist have to do with anything?  Does phycologist proximity make everyone within the aura also qualified to be a phycologist?  Could you just visit a phycologist and become one or does he need to be your Dad?  Are all phycologist equal?  Do any have their own baggage or bias or all they all just perfectly balanced human opinions because they have an education?

Also I'm fairly confident, that "Because my Dad said so" doesn't garner much respect in the huddle.

Beyond that, I think you're reading Clowney's response wrong anyway.  I think he's saying in the kindest way possible that BY9 hasn't taken command of the team.

Look at Clowney actually speaking candidly to the media, that's nice. BY has always seemed like a quiet guy.

I found it interesting how his opinion differs from Johnson, but it makes sense because Johnson has been on the field with Bryce longer and he plays offense so Young would be closer to him.

I try to be in his hip pocket; he's in my hip pocket for whatever play I need help with, or I try to tell him what I see when I'm out there running my routes. Little stuff like that, that's only going to continue to help us grow.

(on a side note, I would have loved to see Clowney play with Cam)

tbh this may be the most concerning thing about Bryce... maybe I just want that Cam energy again, but Bryce is wayyyy too chill sometimes. It's hard for me to see him taking command of a locker room.

Yeap something we already knew even before he was drafted. 

It's not something that matters too much if you're really good at being a QB. But if you're bad at qb, your lack of a commanding voice or inspirational leadership abilities makes makes the situation look worse on a perpetually losing team
