So who is our QB next year?

You have to just stick Dalton and sign him for maybe a 3-4 year deal (team option for yr 4). When called upon twice in two years he delivered, and he'll be the best available. When he's done, just sign the next FA.

I think we'll see the Panthers avoid rookie QBs for the foreseeable future like they used to. Drafting one while you have a vet already only destablizes the situation with the vet always looking over his shoulder.

Andy Dalton is about to turn 37.

”a couple years”?

This fan base has suffered through such crappy QB play for so many years that one good Andy Dalton performance has some of you thinking crazy

Jesus. Chill dude. We still don’t have a team that’s going anywhere in January. Andy is competent enough to win us games while we improve the roster and Dave picks the guy for our future. Stop being dramatic.

This is a very interesting question that should bee keeping Morgan up at night.

Bryce - his career is on life support.  Will the Panthers keep him because they don't have a real back up QB plan?  Andy is 37 years old (or not quite yet?).  He can give us a good run this year, but he's gotten hurt from time to time.  If Andy get's hurt, that's going to be Bryce's best chance to generate some buzz for himself.

Andy - as I said, he's older.  Father time is undefeated.  Let's see what happens over the next 3-4 weeks before we crown anyone.  I'm super happy with his two starts over the past two years, but that doesn't get you a statue on Mint Street.  I think Andy will be solid, but he's not the long term answer.

I don't think our 2025 Qb is on the roster.  Either via draft, FA or trade.  Who will it be?  No one knows for sure, but this is something that Morgan and Co. need to get right.

Too early to say. But based on what's transpired over the last year it should be plain to see that our approach with any rookie QB should change wholesale. Dalton or another veteran of Canales choosing stays and holds onto the reigns while our next rookie QB learns behind him. No handing anyone the keys to the franchise without earning it.

a 3-4 year deal for Andy Dalton?  It was one game vs the Raiduhs, who are butt... no need to tie ourselves to an aging qb thats closer to 40 than not.

Andy, please. No more desperation moves at QB. Select well, learn under dalton, continue to add depth to the o line.

Yesterday was won because everyone stayed focused, but lion share went to the O line. We have one. It felt like we were one of the teams that usually exploits us. Rush never gets there and RB goes for 5 every time he touches the ball, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Dalton threw strikes all day long. Those studs and Chuba iced the game away in the 4th. WTH? Did y’all see our TOP? Imagine giving them 10 more minutes of offense. We were in 2nd/3rd and short ALL DAY, and it wasn’t from anything fancy.

Please keep reloading the lines like the good teams do and don’t Panthers this one up. They’re always ‘Just a qb away,’ don’t add quality depth to the O line, injury begats injury, QB gets destroyed and the hamster wheel goes on. Forget trying to ice a game away in the 4th. Hows the backup’s backup at center working out for you? You think lack of continuity and playing most of your games on turf doesn’t increase chance of injury?

If you don’t have a capable QB, you don’t win FB games. If you can’t protect your QB, you end up in the nauseating purgatory between average and borderline bad for seasons on end. It doesn’t matter how good your defense is. It doesn’t matter if you have first round WRs or a stud RB.

This team has the luxury of low expectations right now. Embrace it, be patient, choose a QB with a similar skill set as Andy’s. This line is built to block for a true pocket passer.

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
