Prepare your mind for Bryce's return. Dalton is bad.

"Long term solution" is a matter of definition, but that aside...I don't know that we're in a position to be skipping the opportunity to draft a franchise guy, especially when it looks increasingly like we're going to have the number one pick (shout-out to @MHS831 & @LinvilleGorge), but I will accept trading down for a haul if it's established that no QB is worth a swing. I just don't see that, but it could happen. That being said, at the end of the day, I don't see this draft as different than any other as far as QBs are concerned. We won't know who's next year's flavor of ice cream until next year. I'm not buying into name hype. I've seen too many QBs fail, and some surprises succeed. Moreover, we have to realize that playing the draft game based upon a certain year's proposed stock could mean that you're very likely to be in a position where you must trade valuable draft capital to move up. I don't like that either. If we're at one and there is someone there with great potential, we don't have to move up and we keep all of our picks.

Most of what I'm hearing says that there aren't any true "franchise guys" in this year's draft.

Mind you, I've watched very little college football this yeR so I'm only going by expert opinions.

if panthers are smart, they would keep him on the bench rather than play him and decrease whatever trade value he may have.

We can keep him on the bench all we want we aren't fooling anyone. This guy came in during garbage time and threw for negative yardage. Threw behind the line of scrimmage on third down trailing 33 points. Teams see.

that means there’s probably a hall of fame QB in next years class the way “expert opinions” have been going

I will listen to that, but you're not gonna tell me or at least intimate (like you have before), please, that the Derek Carr's of the world will ultimately lead us to where we want to go. There is some risk in getting on that retread treadmill.

And please no Gardner Minshew. His name always comes up and he is garbage truck juice!

Dude put up some numbers against a bad Vegas team and everyone was calling him the savior. I kept telling yall he hasn’t had a winning season since 2015 and once teams got tape on him and our offense he would be toast.

I posted in here the same stuff. His record for the past decade was terrible. I remember saying he’s still Dalton. He was serviceable a long time ago with some prime WRs and a decent team. He’s not anymore. We likely will finish worse than last year after all the “additions” and benching Young. That’s miserable.

Dalton hasn't been doing well since we lost our center. Amazing how important that one guy is.

Dalton is a veteran back up QB at this point in his career and as that, couldn't ask for much more from the guy. He can perform and give the rest of the offense a chance to compete more than harm them.

He can't do a darned thing to help the defense when they are out there, though.

Yeah, he's not the long term answer, but he should be perfectly capable for the role he was intended for. If we can get someone as QB1 and a decent Center in front of him.

Denver is ranked 5th in total defense, 5th in pass defense, and 2nd in sacks.

If you want to see how bad Bryce really is, this is the game.

We have all seen that already. The only people questioning it still are those who just don't want to believe it.

All we can do is wait to see if there is one believer running a team out there to trade with. Having to play him much more will just result in having to bring him into camp next year and hopefully make him a cut to get to 53.

    • Bryce among the 7 players Mark Ross of NFL.com guarantees will get better this season. Today, I am identifying seven players who I guarantee will improve on their 2024 output in the 2025 season. Young took tremendous strides in 2024 after returning to the starting lineup in Week 8 following his benching. He looked far more comfortable in his return and produced with consistency, as he threw for 2,104 yards with 15 TDs and six INTs in the final 10 contests. Most important perhaps is Young's confidence grew immensely down the stretch, leading Carolina to either a game-tying or game-winning drive in six of those games. Now he enters his second season in Dave Canales' system with his best supporting cast to date. The Panthers drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall to pair with Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, who I also believe is poised for a breakout campaign this fall. The 18th-ranked rushing attack from a year ago added Rico Dowdle to complement Chuba Hubbard, giving the team a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. The Panthers have taken the necessary steps to ensure Young's third season will be the best of his career, and now it's up to him to not only continue to grow as a player but prove why he was worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in 2023. I believe that's what he will do. https://www.nfl.com/news/which-nfl-players-will-improve-in-2025-c-j-stroud-deebo-samuel-among-guaranteed-risers
    • While it's fair to question how impactful a player's relationship with a coach is (especially if someone has questions regarding said coach), it's important to also evaluate the difference between the players here. Jordan Fuller was pick #199 in the 6th round while Justin Simmons was #98 in the 3rd round. Jordan Fuller might have gotten a Super Bowl ring while he was with the Rams, but he got it while on the IR. Justin Simmons, on the other hand, is a x2 Pro-Bowler (2020, 2023), x4 second-team All-Pro (2019, 2021 - 2023), and was the NFL co-leader in INTs (2022). Simmons has also fallen off in the last couple of seasons though, grade-wise. He very well might not be that same player, which could be why the Falcons have elected to replace him with Fuller. As far as getting the best out of what he has, asking him to produce with a starting DL of A'Shawn Robinson (63.56% of the defense's snaps), LaBryan Ray (51.48%), and Shy Tuttle (50.08%) isn't reasonable. Wonnum only played in 8 games, but had the second most % of snaps (37.27%) at EDGE behind Clowney (53.53%). The second-string DL based on snap % was... and don't read this if you just ate... Charles Harris (34.48%), DeShawn Williams (27.67%), and Nick Thurman (19.7%). The second-string EDGEs based on snap count would be DJ Johnson (32.27%) and Cam Gill (18.14%). With the investments made in the run defense this season though, especially on the defensive line, it's more than fair to demand a complete turn around from last season.
