We absolutely cannot head into next season with BY, Andy, and Plummer as the room again.

Draft a high upside guy in the middle to late rounds and sign a vet reclamation project like Fields and let them duke it out in training camp. It may hurt Bryce's feelings but so be it.

I’d be okay with a vet other than Dalton, but not wasting a pick on a mid round QB. We need all those for defense or a speed WR.

Hubbard and Thielen aren't?  I still can't wrap my head around the idea of propping up an average QB instead of getting an elite QB.

You do know Bryce isn't going to be on his rookie deal forever, correct?  So when we build this team up around him and then he wants a big payday, we immediately have to start making sacrifices elsewhere.

I've said this already, if we Daniel Jones or even Kyler Murray this team in another two years, I may have to walk away for good.  The insane level of stupidity will finally have done me in with this organization.

You had to include a running back because we have an obvious lack of receiving talent. Thielen is good, but a team with legit playoff aspirations wouldn’t have him as the first option. We need better receivers.

An improved supporting cast would arguably help Young’s production. Realistically where would his supporting cast rank in the NFL?

Quite a lot of statistical categories place them near the bottom of the league. End of the day, Andy Dalton’s stint didn’t improve matters because his Y/A and Y/G are almost the same as Bryce Young’s. Dalton did have one prolific game against the Raiders, but the rest were arguably no better.

So upgrading the offensive supporting cast would be the first step towards judging whether Young can be the guy long term. Tua didn’t start firing until year three, so maybe Young can do the same when his supporting cast is upgraded?

There isn't one receiver that defenses plan for - including TEs. Not one. A lot of teams have two or more that you have to pay close attention to every play. Even game plan for. Panthers don't have one that just really concerns you. Please don't say Thielen. Be serious. A good receiver dictates coverages and alignments.

The only person they plan for is Chuba. They don't game plan for our receivers or Bryce

Yes and better DL, LB, CB, S, TE, and possibly K in addition to more WRs.   So again, we have to build the entire team around Bryce for him to be _______.  The word I would insert is average.  If it was so easy to plug every hole on the roster in order to prop up a QB, every team would do it, yet how many succeed?

    • Watched the recent Mic'd up which had the Bucs game. This angle makes that fumble look so much worse, pretty sure it was inbetween Bryce's hands.   bbb.mp4
    • Here is what you did not mention (and I have not read the thread--but will--it is a needed) and that is the MAFF.  He is in a contract year (2026-5th year) and we will not know (in all likelihood) how the knee is healing by the time we have to decide on a mega deal.   If you consider the time it takes to fully heal is 12 months if all goes well, the injury is known to shorten careers.  Of course, a man of 330 lbs who needs agility to perform at a high level makes the injury a bit more serious than it was for Jimmy Graham, for example, who recovered in a remarkable 9 months.  Having said all that, I think he should be moved inside to guard.   While many NFL linemen can return to play after patellar tendon surgery, studies show a significant failure rate and reduced performance, with return-to-play (RTP) rates often cited around 50-56%, meaning roughly 44-50% don't make it back, and even those who do often see reduced careers and statistics, highlighting it as a devastating injury for linemen." I think you have to go after an elite OT, and I think it should be a first rounder because you don't sign elite LTs in free agency.  Ickey is already going to get paid $18m or so in 2026.    However, the money you save by not locking him down long term could go to a free agent edge or ILB.  It is very complicated if you start factoring in contracts, risks, cap, and the odds of recovery.
    • Yes, we played the 2nd most cover 3 in the NFL behind the Raiders.   The flats and seams are the areas you want to attack it so its soft spots are areas qbs can hit quickly which can definitely hurt the pass rush.
