Was Frank Reich the problem?

Still have my doubts on that story

Me too.  He definitely was non confrontational--go along to get along type.  He knew where the other members of the brass stood even if they 'supposedly' didn't tell one another. Heck, we all did.

I mean, we're 5-12. We still have a lot of problems to solve.

But yeah, I think Reich either took this job as a retirement check or he mailed it in when we drafted Bryce. Either way, not a good look on his part.

I'm not sure he mailed it in, but it definitely took the wind out of his sails.  Looking back, I could tell a difference in pre-draft Frank and post-draft Frank.

Some of the most UNINSPIRING football in Panthers history was last year under Frank Reich

this is the first offseason in a long time I can actually be OPTIMISTIC about the direction of the team.

where CJ Stroud had the sophomore slump, Young has the sophomore jump and I think much of this can be attributed to Dave Canales

this is the first offseason in a long time I know who’s going to be our coach and QB next season

I think the biggest issue was not letting Bryce sit. They’ve should have started Dalton and let him observe the game on the professional level.

Seemed that way to me too. Felt like he was in a different camp and didn't get his way so he just said fug it.

Yep, add in the realization that his new boss is just as bad if not worse than his old boss had to be deflating.

You ask if Frank was the problem as if we were good this year. We went 5 and 12.

Our receiving core consisted of Mingo, Chark, and Terrace Marshall last year and we had one of the worst offensive lines in football.

Adding Coker, Legette and Sanders and the additions to our OLine. I’m sure Reich could win a couple more games as well.

He should have been fired for wearing that hat alone.

Frank was A problem and his crappy attitude didn't help the team, but Tepper was and still is the problem.

Frank may never coach in the NFL again due to how bad he was and some of his staff may be out soon too (Thomas Brown). It will be a case study from top to bottom how to not run an NFL team.

A large segment of that cast is still here.

it’s why the real problem is just Tepper.  Over and over it shows.  Time and time again people sort of move away from it.  I think we are now on the 3rd variation of Tepper finally stepped back.  It’s never true.

Yep, that is true. Needed to clean house, Morgan is an extension of Fitterer (as evidenced with the shitty draft picks).

We were 2-15 last year and 5-10 this year, let's not act like we turned into a super bowl contender overnight.

Rookie QB improves a little in his second year (as expected) and we win a few more games.

Overall though we are 7-25, the roster is bad, who is responsible for that?

    • Torn achilles.  The reason he was out more than half of last season.
    • When the panthers are bad, we sell a shockingly low number of jerseys, and options become limited. In the good years, we had a lot of different options. I think T-Mac is going to have to play well on the field for his jersey to get produced in the FUSE template.
    • it's not the only way to be a threat, it's certainly important for certain roles in an offense and for certain type players and offenses.  as is the ability to get open quickly and generate easy throws.   as far as Renfrow goes, I have consistently said he is sort of his own thing and not really in comp w/ others here.  It's a niche role/job.  Anyone talking about something else from him isn't me.  Just depends if we want to do what he does and if he can still do it.  as far as AT goes, yeah, he does lower our ceiling given the % of our offense that goes through him and his limitations at this stage in his career.    He should be a roleplayer, much like Renfrow should be if we want to insert what he does into the O....not an O being run through him.    Renfrow isn't going to lower the ceiling if used correctly.  Niche assignments to move chains.   It's like a short yardage RB that comes in to pick a random play.  Renfrow is best at that 3rd and 4 type scenario IMO. AT lowers the ceiling because we build the pass game off an old WR that shouldn't be the focal point of a pass attack.  Not to mention, Bryce Young is practically tailor made to get the ball in the hands of YAC players.   So you need those type on the field.
