Let's Talk Evero

I want to make a few points and see what others can contribute.

Something I heard:  He does not like the large, 330lb NT.  Currently, we have Tuttle (300 lbs) as the Nose (DT) and A'Shawn Robinson (320 lbs) is listed as a DE (3-4).  We also have Ray (290) at DE.  However, we were blown off the ball all year with no real adjustment. 

Something I observed today:  The Falcons' #1 WR London caught ten passes today for nearly 200 yards and 2 TDs.  While we saw two catches where he outmatched former practice squad player Bartholomew (Ga Southern) who had damn good coverage on him, several other catches were made over the middle where there were only safeties on him. His second TD was due to #57 (Wooten) not getting his drop.  I have a problem with Safeties and dropping LBs being responsible for the other team's #1 WR.

Perhaps I do not understand the concept and you can explain it.  Pennix threw 38 passes and 18 of them targeted London, and we are letting him run out of the CB zones and into the dropping LB/Safety Zones.  Did we adjust?  Take away their #1?  No, we let him run free across the deep middle and man up with a practice squad CB on the outside. 

And we nearly lost as a result.  Nor did I see an adjustment when they were averaging 10 yards per pop on the offensive right side--something the announcers referred to often. 

Just guessing, but this suggests Evero has checked out.  I dunno.

I don't see any path forward that doesn't involve us turning the page there. It's for the best for both parties. Now it's only a matter of when not if.

We don't have the personnel to execute his scheme - but instead of adjusting at all (e.g. moving Horn or Jackson to other teams #1s) he simply let them play and ugh.

I think Evero may have been just going through the motions a bit too, but he also has the least talent on D available I've ever seen on a team.

I think he's a good coordinator overall, but it's time to move on.

Man.. I don't know either.  I watch certain plays and it looks like we just physically can't make them.  I really can't say if it's coaching or not.  Even when we are in position ... we usually can't make the play.  I don't know if coaching not making adjustments or coaching knows this is the best we can do...

Agree with OP. Evero is stubborn and refuses to change his way/scheme for the team. In no world should you allow Evans, Cee Dee Lamb, Drake London to dictate the kind of coverage they get. Horn wasn't in this game, but he was against Dallas and early Tampa. If a guy is torching you, you assign your best guy on him. That's like 101 stuff. The OC shouldn't be able to hide him in the slot or the other side of the field.

I honestly think a lot of the shifts to 3-4 have been driven by 3-4 OLBs being easier to find in the draft than 4-3 DEs. 4-3 DEs are freaks. To be big enough to set the edge against the run and athletic enough to rush the passer all without the head start a stand up rusher has takes an athletic freak of a man.
