I am pretty skeptical of him getting a big paycheck. I suspect the Huddle is going to find out that the league as a whole doesn't view him quite the same way we do.

He is definitely better than Yosh Nijman but I remember all the glowing things said about his ability to play(some predicting he would start here lol) and he was easily the worst offensive lineman on the roster by a pretty substantial margin.

8 million per is our friendly bet. I know campy thought highly of him and even called him one of the best players on the team. He and others talk to scouts/GMs/presid/etc. The FA class is weak and he's shown LT, OGs and even C with good play levels.

I think some team with space and a need at OT, with drop him a offer above 8milion.  Some zone blocking team would love him at either OG too and hunt got 20 million this past year.

I think Nijman is like a 50/50 cut, like if you are right and christ market is cold.....Dan could cut yoshi and pay BC a similar contract. I'd love to keep him, but I put it at a 2% chance he's here in 25. He has great 2022 tape along with starts across the line.

Not that I am advocating paying him ( I don't focus much on cap space unless its a crazy contract ). Would it be advisable to pay him now to keep him on the roster to replace Moton after next year? It would hurt to lose a capable linemen who we know works for us. Just a thought. What's the huddle think?

He's going to get paid somewhere and be offered a starting spot, he's gone.

I’m not so sure about that. We tend to overrate our guys. I don’t blame him for taking as much as he can get but that article says nothing about him having a ton of interest. It’s basically from his side and likely his agent trying to drum up interest in him.

All that said, this is another example of us being bad drafters. We take project WRs over solid to stud OL and long snappers/tiny QBs over day 3 OL that have started elsewhere. Now that we have a ton of day 3 picks we better be shooting tons of shots at lineman, O or D.

Seems like people have forgotten, Brady C is only 2 years younger than Taylor Moton.

He will be 29 this autumn, Moton will be 31.

If we want to look at the future after Moton, BC is not the one.

Yeah, the idea that he is going to be a highly sought after starter is pretty ridiculous, IMO. If he truly were that guy we would have had people beating down our doors to trade for him over the course of his career here.

He is a very solid backup OL that can play at a league average or slightly better level at multiple spots. That's definitely valuable but it isn't suddenly becoming a top shelf starter in the NFL.

I don't think anyone is saying that. Being given a starting opportunity is not the same thing as suddenly becoming top shelf.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
