Fact.

I stuck up Ian Thomas for the same reason as tremble= age.

But when fittererererer gave him that 3 year 21 million(18?) deal, same thoughts here with tremble 100% disagree.....sure Panthers spend 4 years in developing him, guess what little has happened...... Sure he's still young, but so are 4th and 5th round rookies. 8 million will also cover the 4 years of contract with spare change.

I get the sentiment with this franchise I really do. But I don't think it's fair to compare him to Ian. I don't think Tommy has earned that kind of rep here. And he's only 24. Let's at least see what he brings to the table in the upcoming season and go from there.

Tommy is a fuging DAWG.  When healthy, he makes fuging plays.  And not just any plays, he will beat the man in front of him, more often than not.  He takes pride in his play.  How many fuging TDs does he have off of handoffs?  I feel like it’s been 2 or 3, maybe more…. It’s because he’s a fuging playmaker and has been stuck in dysfunctional ass offenses from the day he was drafted.  He makes plays, he just needs stability around him to really shine…  this isn’t the same as Ian.  Everyone was waiting for Ian to show what Tremble already has based off his measurables and perceived ability bc of them.  Tremble has already shown the ability to make plays when everything around him is poo.  He needs the rest of the offense and coaching to shore up around him so he can take the next step.  Glad he’s coming back.

Okay,  if these are the real numbers, then it isn't that bad.  Two years, a little over $10M and $4M is due at signing. Back out yearly bonuses and is just under $5M in salary for the life of the deal.  That I can live with.

Numbers do look similar to Ian Thomas' deal, but a couple of things worth noting:

  • Ian Thomas signed a 3yr/$16.95M extension in 2022 when the cap was $208.2M
  • Tommy Tremble signed a 2yr/$10.5M extension for 2025 when the cap is $279.2M
  • Thomas' average salary of $5.65M accounted for 2.71% of the team's cap
  • Tremble's average salary of $5.25M accounts for 1.88% of the team's cap
  • Thomas got a $5M signing bonus compared to Tremble's $4M
  • Both received $8M in total guarantees
  • The team can free up $3.5M in dead cap next season if the cut Tremble

Solid deal. Team paid less than Ian Thomas' contract despite the salary cap going up... that's a dub.

People stuck in 2015. $8M guaranteed for a TE2 is a really solid number. Think he’s like 25 too

No it’s not. Go to Spotrac and look at TE salaries. $8M was right at the middle of TE1s, around 15th-17th. That’s average TE1 money not TE2.

Tremble was 42nd in receiving yards. $8M is triple what he should have gotten. We did the same thing for Thomas. We’ve paid our TEs like we’ve had average starting TEs when in reality our starting TEs couldn’t have made most rosters. I’m tired of us paying starting salaries to guys who’d never start for any other team.

Kelce had maybe his worst year ever and was paid $20k per yard. We just paid Tremble $34k per yard. SMH. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. This is basically extending Ian Thomas all over again.

Good move. Good player.

Ppl need to stop hating, not his fault the Panthers didn't use the TE much his 1st 3yrs.

Good speed, can block very well, also coming on as a pass catcher. Also can be a move TE/H back

Develop our draft picks, don't give guys with up side away for nothing and him and Sanders are a ok 1-2 TE room to build off...

I still think we overpaid but he's not getting paid 8 million per year.  It's $5.25 million. Again, a little rich in my opinion but not quite as egregious.

Since you quote spotrac, here are the spotrac details: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72463/tommy-tremble

Also interestingly enough, spotrac suggests the contract is fair value. They have a suggested market value contract as 2 years, $11.5 million, suggesting we actually got a slight discount in their estimation.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
