Thielen traded

Recommended Posts

A 5th rounder basically, and moving up some spots in 2027. And more cap to roll over.

To do a solid for a guy who contemplated retirement, coming off an injury, and needing to let our young WRs play/prove themselves.

Yeah, I'm not getting the hate here. Would I prefer to keep Thielen? Sure. But also....why? Bryce needs to sink or swim, take away his safety blanket. We've given you 4 young WRs with potential, go elevate them and grow together. We're still a year+ away and should be acquiring assets. If you thought we were getting a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a rental on a 35 year old WR I don't know what to tell you.

I hope he pans out I just didn't see anything out of him during preseason and it seemed like all the talk about him looking good on camp pretty much evaporated once the pads went on.

He's going to take time. This trade gives Coker a big time chance to shine. If XL doesn't work out, that gives the Panthers Tmac, Coker and Horn Jr for 2026. If XL does workout, they hope they have a really good returner and backup slot wr.

This is exactly how it should be looked at.

They managed to unload his contract and that's a win in itself.  The pick swaps are miniscule in value to either side. How it effects the offense is yet to be seen. My only concern is that he had the surest hands of all the receivers on the team. That's not easy to replace.

There's only maybe 5 wr that would net a 2nd or higher in a trade in the NFL. Another handful that would net a 3rd.

He should be, but I said this in his predraft and why i didn't want to draft him.

Can't read defenses well and set line up for success, eats a lot of unnecessary sacks and pressures due to that and holding the ball too long and moving in the pocket towards the edges instead of up into the pocket.

Well if Bryce tanks this year because Thielen isn’t helping him then the trade is even better than I thought because that means we are replacing Bryce in the 2026 draft instead of the 2027 draft.

Our third year QB should be doing that now. Sure there will be growing pains but how are the young guys supposed to get better if their dad keeps doing all the work for them.

Cam had no issues lining up the offense or with protections by his third year, it’s time to let Bryce leave the nest and see what he’s got in regards to commanding the offense.

I mean not for nothing but this is literally what we drafted him for. He was already supposed to be ahead of the curve in this area. Guy was regularly billed as a smaller Peyton Manning in terms of his football IQ before the draft.

Flipped the upcoming 7th to a 5th and the following draft's 5th to a 4th at the expense of a 35yr old veteran on the last year of his deal.

Win-win for all parties. Hoping they bring Renfrow back now that there's room!

It's just a question to try and get you to think about value to yourself (A) vs value to the marketplace (B).  And if A > B then you don't sell.

That’s also how you end up with a closet full of TY beanies.

Coker made some plays that gives me hope that he can be that clutch receiver.  It was a huge gamble if you ask me.  You are depending on rookies and 2nd year players to step up. Moore's the only multi-year veteran and he's at the bottom of the pecking order.
