Thielen traded

but upon reflecting on the Hunter cut, it's because a true quick slot game is just flat out not something Dave Canales is going to want or need in his O scheme.  Renfrow does a very specific thing and you have to want to do that on O.   Canales is downfield chunk O.  That's not something Renfrow fits.

and AT was NEVER a real slot WR here.  He was a WR that moved inside because he couldn't get the job done outside.  Which means he lacks all the tools of traditional slot WRs.  AT was a small TE for Canales and Bryce went to him because Bryce is just going to always go to that area of the field when the other option is chunk on the outside (which isn't his game).

Agreed but it makes some sense. TMac is going to be a focus on the offense, XL should be freed up in the Z, and Coker is young and promising. They all need reps

Tmac has NEVER logged a real NFL snap.  Againt #1 corners each week....Tmac could also have a really slow start to the NFL figuring out how to get open which wouldn't free up anything.

Each offseason if I were GM, would I pay ~$2mil for the equivalent of an extra 4th or 5th round pick two years out?

I would. Every time.

The downside was the extra millions we locked up during free agency that could have been used elsewhere. I don’t think that extra 6 or so million would have made a huge difference this year. Maybe it will come in handy now with waiver claims.

This tells me that the Front Office likely doesn't see us as a playoff team this year. That's ridiculous considering what we gave up for Bryce and that he's in his third year.

OR it could mean that in the year 2025, our staff views Jalen Coker as more beneficial to our offense in the slot.

Not a fan of this trade, but maybe the front office knows the panthers are not going to be competitive this year so they just wanted to get rid of an older very talented wr.  If young does terrible this year its a built in excuse now, he can just say well they traded my top wr right before the season.

If Thielen is the link to Bryce Young’s success like some of y’all seem to think then we are fuged.

But in reality Jalen Coker put up a 7 for 7 for 62 in the last game of the season and showed he can be a volume target.

We also just opened up a ton of slot snaps and for those that are unaware, yes, McMillan has played the slot and is a matchup nightmare there.

Then you factor in that we got compensation for a guy who is at the end of his career, has an injury history, and and may not even be in the league next year… I fail to see where the issue is even if the fourth round pick is in 2027.

This is a good summation.  If Bryce needs Theilen for success then what does that say about the future of BY or the receiving corp where we have invested 2 first round picks in the last two drafts. What would happen when AT retires at the end of the season?   The young guys we drafted for long term need to step up or we need to rethink our offense's core personnel.

OR they have confidence in the young WRing corps and want to get them more PT???

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
