No more mistakes on draft day...

So many mistakes on draft day cause this stupid front office is hell bent on getting “their” guy

team needs to find an identity first, we don’t do anything very well on offense, defense or special teams

the fact that we didn’t bring in qb completion or a c when both positions most fans knew would fail at some point tells me all I need to know

There's always going to be mistakes in the draft, it's a crapshoot in a lot of ways. Our problem isn't just bad drafting, though it's a big part of our problem. Don't oversimplify it. It seems like Tepper and his gang of clowns sit around and see if they can come up with new ways to fug up a football organization. We draft bad. We make bad decisions in FA. We give big money to the wrong players in house. We hire bad GMs and coaches. The scouts are either ignored or completely suck. There's not much of anything that we do right. It goes far beyond just the draft.

Is it wrong to long wistfully for the days of Jerry Richardson?  Asking for a friend…

Of course not. Back then we all longed for consistency. We just couldn't find a way to put together good seasons but we'd mess around and have good seasons often enough to keep things interesting and give reason for hope. That's a helluva lot better than just being the league's doormat year after year.

Not much to tear down on the roster. A few contracts to dump but really pretty bare bones due to years of poor management and not being able to get more expensive people to come into their mess.

100% on holdovers. The problem is the Teppers will be a part of the hiring at some level, which they have failed at in every way. I can't see a way around that hurdle unless it's pure luck at this point.

We did a complete roster tear down after 2018. Everyone here was clamoring for it, while I was not. Competent and competitive franchises never do this. They constantly retool. It keeps continuity even across staffs and helps maintain a certain level of culture.

That is all now gone from our organization. We have no culture, we have no continuity. It's basically just a bunch of guys drifting through on their way other places or out of the league.

This is why you never tear down a roster and especially without any stability or structure in the FO.

We doomed ourselves to failure from the first moment of Tepper's era. He tore down everything and rebuilt in "his" image.

Look upon it, Panther fans. This is exactly what you asked for and these are the results.

I don't remember a 2018 tear down. I remember the failed 2019 failed build up of the 3-4 switch which is still stuck in the 'working on the foundation' stage. I thought 2020 was closer to that but really it was just an idiot behind the wheel doing what idiots do. Poor drafting and free agents is the main problem IMO. This team hits so little on talent it's actually amazing they don't stumble over more just by accident.

I still don't think there is anything to tear down. Just a ton of easy to dump people that should happen. It's a bottom of the roster churn that reaches 2/3s the way up this roster.

Despite what reports say, I still think Tepper is influencing football decisions.  We certainly heard about this during the Reich short era...ie - the Monday morning meetings.  There are too many consistent inconsistencies still going on to not think he is still too much involved.  New coaches, new GMs....same results.  The offense looks the same under Canales as it did under Rhule, Brown and Reich. The only time the offense has looked different was when Wilkes moved to a power run game for 6-7 games.  But it was clear Wilkes would not have wanted BY....probably a big reason why he was not retained.

The defense was actually better under Snow but he had better players and it was not a great defense.  But the defense has gotten much worse as they lost key players (Luvu, Chinn, Burns & etc) but did not replace them with even average talent.  The defense was never really strong since the 3-4 defense was pushed on Rivera by Tepper.

I think Tepper pushed for BY too.  Now Canales is stuck with a QB that does not fit his system.  The last 7-years of Panthers football can be traced back to when Tepper bought the team.

    • Regarding BYs depth of target... Week 1 Week 2
    • His physical attributes aren't going to change on a new team so I have no idea how he would pan out elsewhere but I can logically assume those issues he has had with processing which was supposed to be his key selling point before the draft would follow him. He was also supposed to be someone who thrives when the play breaks down but he has been inconsistent at best on that and at times horrific. I think where we each take a fork in the road on the determination of Bryce Young currently is you seem to still be treating him as a rookie and not a third year QB still repeating the same mistakes while showing that he has no arm talent to overcome even the slightest bit of adversity. I've said all along his rookie year and his sophomore season that I would be willing to overlook his interceptions if he was pushing the ball downfield consistently and even if he turned the ball over forcing a pass here and there to keep defenses honest I would accept it. But he has nothing. There is no deep passing game here. He threw the ball 55 times in Arizona which was 30 more times than Kyler Murray and only had a little over 100 more passing yards than him. Legitimately you should read that again and ponder it. That is embarrassingly atrocious. Circumstances here are not ideal with the WR's and OL but we cannot normalize this. It is horrendous. And we need to swallow our pride and begin scouting QB's for the 2026 draft. In the meantime this cannot continue on much longer for the sake of the locker room. And the upcoming schedule isn't going to get any better. If there is a silver lining to any of this we are going to find out just who Dave Canales really is throughout the rest of the season. He isn't getting a pass either.
    • I don't hate it but.....  eeeh it would take acquiring Kaprizov without giving up svech to make rod try Jarvis at 2C. Svechnikov/Aho/Kaprizov  Ehlers/Jarvis/Stankoven
