I think we all agree on that. Unfortunately, we don't have a capable backup on the roster. Dalton looked awful in his one start this season and I don't think we have a 3rd option on the roster. Didn't we release Hooker and White this month?

Canales should of pounded the table for a better QB in the off season then.  Morgan and Canales built this pile of sh*t so they are kinda stuck, but you cant put everything on Young if you keep sending him out there.

Obviously Schlereth isn't familiar with the GWDs and big time throws. Embarrassing for a professional football commentator to be trusting his eyes leading to him talking out of his ass and not realizing the greatness he was missing.

I’m surprised he is speaking against Bryce based off the last game he called. Bryce could do no wrong that game and even hyped up a pass to the flats.

Schlereth won SB's with the Redskins (1991) and Broncos (1997 & 98). He knows what competent QB play looks like. He can't come out and just say on live TV "this passing game is pathetic" or "this QB is not a factor if he has to throw the ball downfield 10+ yards more than once a game".

I think every announcer has to scale down their criticism of Bryce Young during live broadcast and "hype" up any positive play he makes, even if its a routine play for 90% of the QBs in the league. There could be some serious repercussion for them if they came out and said over the airwaves "This guy is the biggest factor holding the back the Panthers."

I remember the Huddle saying we could rest Rico and beat them without McMillan  too

Honestly I think that having both of them out might have actually kept the Saints defense more off guard because they wouldn't know who to focus on. But Canales didn't really put together a new game plan either way.

True, but glazing a dump off to the flats is a bit much

I think canales and a lot of folks thought Bryce had turned the corner after the benching. It looked like it in many ways, and I don't honestly blame.them for thinking that... But it was a huge roster building blunder to not at least bring in a decent backup. Even if Bryce hadnt regressed, if he ended up injured, we were left with Andy Dalton... They had to know he doesn't have it anymore from seeing him practicing.

I'm not a fan of Schlereth but unfortunately he is completely correct. I'm legitimately surprised he was this candid about it. The tide seems to be turning in the media.

And yet. The Panthers continue to come up with excuses. Incredible.

Pretty damning to just come out and say "If you make our QB pass, we lose" it's actually a relief to hear him or someone like that just come out and say it. There is so much manufactured positivity sometimes that it makes you feel like you are losing your mind.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
