Adam Thielen Requests and is Granted Release

Dave just mentioned  he can't say if they'd be interested  in bringing him back bc he's technically  still a  Viking.  I love the youth movement  we have but I wouldn't rule him out for a playoff push. Especially  since he has mastered finding the soft spots in Tampas defense the last couple years. He'd bring knowledge to the wr room on that alone.

GM Dan Morgan:

- Traded Diontae Johnson and a 6th to BAL for a 5th.
- Traded Jonathan Mingo to DAL for a 4th.
- Traded Adam Thielen to MIN for a package including a 4th and 5th.

that’s master class work

Dan’s been doing better than I’ve expected but let’s not crown him yet. He was also involved in trading for Diontae and drafting Mingo in the first place…

Basically, fk him.

lol

I def thought it was weird for him to ask out of Carolina but looking at the way the season has gone, I get it. T-Mac probably ate his lunch in training camp and it was clear he wasn't going to get many snaps. Thielen would have probably made a bigger impact early in the year when Coker was hurt but now there's not really a spot for him barring injury. Could see him on the Chiefs or Chargers or something.

Bryce has matured, and knows how to go through his progressions and look for the open deep man. Before he would just default to the "Thielen is open for 5 yards" easy button. Not having that forced Bryce to develop. So if he came back, he could fill the slot receiver role nicely.

I got not animosity towards him. He wanted to go back to where he had roots for the twilight of his career; and we did him a solid. He never expected he'd have to endure "9" though. So if he wants to come back, no, objections here.

KC would make all the sense in the world. Buffalo could be a sleeper.

I hope he goes to the AFC and I know the Chiefs were the other consideration when he originally signed with us, but I don’t think their contention chances are very high.  I briefly thought about if we could bring him back to help, but I don’t want him taking snaps or roles away from the younger guys.  I’d much rather XL or Horn get any snaps Thielen would take.

It's like they started on trying to work on Jimmy Horn and were like yeah, we can just run the same gadget look for him for the rest of the season.    Development for year 1 is over lol.

But Horn much like Renfrow doesn't fit a Canales O.   The big 3 are really the dudes who should see the field.

I didn't think it was weird. It's his final year. He thought the Vikings had a shot at making a real playoff run and his wife wanted to go back to Minnesota where they have roots. Carolina does nothing to upgrade the QB room, Bryce's past performances would lead him to think this is a paycheck, nothing more. I totally get why he'd want out of here. He wanted a shot at a ring and let's be honest, no one had Carolina making any serious deep playoff runs. He's still trying to get a shot at a ring.

    • It damned sure fell off a ton without DB last year.
    • I'm not High on Petterson hes a ghost in the post season....  and isnt going to help fill the physicality gap.
    • The lack of consistent ball placement has been a point of contention here and for good reason. This season Young has a 16.4% bad throw rate. That's the best of his career. For comparisons, this year CJ Stroud is at 17.6% and Caleb Williams is at 20.7% so Young is more accurate than both of them. Baker is at 15.7% but for his first 5 seasons, he was between 17.9 and 20.9 so while slightly behind Mayfield currently, he is better than him at the same point in their respective careers. Saying he is inaccurate is simply untrue this season. I don't necessarily fault Horn here because as I said in previous posts he never should have been in that position. To me, that's an insult to Horn but that's besides the point. Against the Dolphins, the Panthers faced a 4-5 with 3:31 left in the game. Bryce hit Horn for a 17 yrd completion picking up the 4th down and leading to a score for the win. So I don't understand why you wouldn't think he could do it again. As far as the ball placement, every analyst and receiver ( Smith and Ocho ) I have heard comment on the play has stated Horn should have made the catch. Not one of them has said a thing about the pass being bad or that Bryce should have thrown it better.
