Tampa's remaining schedule

Tampa has a pretty easy schedule.

They have both Atl and N.O. at home so an upset by either of these two teams is pretty slim.

There only other game is Miami, who has been playing better lately but it's going to be tough.

We are going to have to win against TB twice and New Orleans.

We'd both end up 10-7 if we beat them both games.  We'd have the tie breaker from head to head.

It's a huge task but if we can beat them in Carolina in week 15 we have a chance in the final game.

If we beat Seattle it going to be quite interesting.

I mentioned this in another thread, but you're spot on.  The only way I see us winning the division is to sweep Tampa and win at least 3 of the last 4.  Highly unlikely Tampa loses to anyone else but us.  The worst part is it looks like Mike Evans is coming back and he's taken our lunch money twice a year ever since Josh Norman left.  Losing to New Orleans was an absolute catastrophe that put us in a nearly impossible situation.

The most basic way to put it: We have a clear path if we can sweep them and they just lose 1 of the 3 other games.

  • They finish 2-3
  • We finish 3-1 (2 of those wins the sweep)
  • We win the tie-breaker, we're the 4th seed at 10-7

That gets it done.

We have to take care of the Saints or else it's pretty much done.

The Bucs upcoming games are the Saints at home and the Falcons at home. It's difficult to envision them losing either of those regardless of divsional rivalry. The only game I see as truly up in the air for them would be against the Dolphins in Miami. That could be an upset. If we want to take the torch from the Bucs we have to basically win out and slam the door shut.

As someone said, divisional games are always tricky, that said they SHOULD take care of business vs NO and ATL, though I'd watch atlanta, they always seem to have Tampas number, only lost by 3 in week 1 and swept them last year.

The big key to me is I think Miami, I think Miami is really feeling themselves right now and the team somehow seems to have rallied around Mcdaniel.  After starting 1-6, theyve won 4 of their last 5 and now are 5-7.  As history has shown, under McDaniel, the Dolphins can either be EXTREMELY hot or EXTREMELY cold and they seem to be on the hot side right now.  Dont be surprised if they drop that game down in Miami too.

Basically, our schedule comes down to this, 1 very Layup (SHOULD BE LAYUP THAT IS!), 1 game that will be brutal and hard to win (seattle) and then 2 games to determine the division.

1st we MUST win against the Saints.  A loss and everything else is a mute point.

Week 16 is our season.  If we can beat the Bucs in Carolina we stand a chance regardless of week 17.

I'm glad I chose that game at the beginning of the season to go to. I hope that game still has significance by the time it gets here.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
