We paid the vet 4 million dollars when he was supposedly the #1 FA tackle this cycle

You can't use 4 million dollars and #1 FA Tackle in the same sentence.  The math don't add up. That's backup money. Recompute.

People hung up on Safety need to think about if they would rather have Nick Scott playing safety or Stone Forsyth starting at Tackle because we would have been 1 injury away from that.

This may be the only time I’ve ever felt that picking Nick Scott to play a position was a plus move. lol

But that’s more on that Forsythe guy. What he’s put on film is horrid.

I guess this year will just be a plug and play year. But if Ickey is able to come back at even 90 percent of what he was, the next year they should kick him inside to guard and cut hunt.

Draft a center and then you only really need to worry about replacing Moton next.

This is assuming freeling can ball out and be a stud LT

Yes I forgot McMillan and Young were from Gastonia

I hope you enjoyed yourself one of those South Carolina native Xavier Legette inspired raccoon sandwiches last year brother.

A rookie shouldn’t beat out the vet we paid to buy time while icky heals and the rookie learns. We needed depth at tackle and help on the OL.

it was a must honestly.

I’m not gonna poo 💩 the pick…  as always, I’m gonna hope for the best.  But, I just don’t get it.  The value may be incredible down the road, but right now, it isn’t.  The first round pick should always have “start as a rookie” projection, unless you’re a perineal contender, and usually even then…  this pick?  I just don’t see how it fits.  Someone else posted that Morgan said Freeling was the best on their board at our pick and it wasn’t close.  I did see that he said we were in the position to take BPA after FA.  So from that angle, I get it.  But to take a guy who probably won’t play out of injury or situational subs versus guys like Lemon or Thieneman, who would’ve stepped in immediately and started?  That one is a head scratcher for me right now.  But, in a year or two, this may look like a genius pick.

Ugh, I really hope that’s not the case. I haven’t watched the last two combines but I remember Little’s combine workout and his position drills were awful as well. You could tell Little had no movement skills at all and that absolutely translated into his reaching and falling down.

I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that he had terrible positional drills and it really makes me disappointed in this pick and a small hope that he proves us wrong.

He ran great and jumped high, but he struggled with the drills. I literally thought to myself “I hope we don’t take this player”  during the combine. I just don’t understand why Carolina feels the need to draft these raw, boom or bust players in the 1st round with very little college production? I thought Dan Morgan learned his lesson last draft when he took the highly productive WR in TMac. I don’t have time to go into detail, but his technique leaves a lot to be desired if you watch him closely.. Why is a 6’7 OT with elite athleticism the 5th OT taken in a weak draft? That’s a red flag for me. People are blindly praising the pick in here without ever watching the kid play

    • Their use of the phrase questionable QB situation fits perfectly. He is stuck, for the moment at least, in a situation with Bryce that he can't really get out of. There have been improvements for Young, but he hasn't been a world changer. He had horrible coaching first year and was saddled with a broken down remnant of what had been an afterthought team anyway. There's one year left to keep him on the cheap with the idea that if he cranks out a great season, we've got first dibs on him for the next. If he tanks out, then off to free agency Young goes to either a QB whisperer-type situation or becomes a fairly battle tested back up QB. And we get something to add into our compensatory picks formulation. This is a make or break year for Young, but not for Morgan or Canales.
    • If they lose the ECF in wimpy fashion, like anything less than a Game 7, its time to can Rod.
    • Do you people really give no credence to the fact that Carolina’s went almost two weeks between games while Montreal played an intense seven game series that just ended Monday? That break was too much to be ready to go, and it showed.   The Canes pressed in the first, likely from overzealousness to prove the layoff wasn’t too much. once the Canes settled into their game without pressing, the game was much tighter. Every year, posts in the Panthers forum question how little the starters play in the preseason? Why is that? Because we all know not going at game speed against an opponent can lead to a slow start when the games turn real. Even with prior ECF disappointments, I’m going to hope last night was more akin to starters not playing in the preseason.
