Oher Struggling Early in Camp

Is Remmers just not even worth a look at LT to the staff?  I'm more comfortable with Oher or D. Williams at RT (Remmers at LT), than I am with Nate Chandler ever seeing the field at LT.

That's my question.  He's played it before back in the day and seems more in-line size wise for an LT.  Remmers at LT with Williams at RT would be what I'd like to see an experiment with if things with Oher aren't working out come regular season.  Not saying do it now, but if things aren't working down the road.  I'm definitely willing to see Oher through.

Rivera would rather our rookie try out at LT because you know...we're clueless when it comes to LT.

who would you like DG to have drafted/signed? Seems like Hurst is the only one who got away. we could have grabbed him with a 7th. otherwise, there hasn't been anyone we could have gotten who we passed on.

with Oher, I don't think anyone expects him to be great, or pro bowl calibre. the question is, can he be good enough.

Little late for that question now. We have Oher and that's the end of it.

Yep. This tells me for now, the FO really struggles in evaluating o line talent. Which explains the lack of 1st rd o linemen drafted so far. It's a blind spot.

There have been no 1st round OT's worth drafting since Gettleman took over.

He did manage to find us Remmers at the bottom of someone's roster. He knows what he's doing. There have been some decent guys out there, but they were all overpaid and it showed. He has yet to overpay for a player.

Not even going to worry at this point. It's too early, and even if it turns out he's not an upgrade, we've got several upgrades on the team already.  It's hard to believe he will be worse.

  • We're going to get a 10 yards per drive head start just because of Ginn.
  • We have a legit receiving unit.
  • We have a healthy QB.
  • We have a better secondary.

Why are we stressed that 100% of our problems haven't been solved before training camp really gets underway?

3 out of 5 OL positions have been upgraded between the 2014 draft and remmers being brought in.  i mean damn we got two new guards who are quality starters in the draft/UDFA and a solid if unspectacular right tackle off the scrap heap midseason.

you can't do that without serious scouting and film chops

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
