If RR is concerned about Addison not being "big" enough to be an every down DE, then I'd say Jared needs to put on a few pounds...

I think that was just a nice way for Rivera to say Mario isn't "good" enough to be an every down DE. His only impact is rushing the passer...not the case with Allen (hopefully).

You're probably right about the MA deal, but at any rate, a NFL 4-3 DE should ideally weight more than 255 pounds

With that being said, I don't give a fug what he weighs as long as he can get pressure on the opposing QB.

What I was not expecting was how quickly Allen seems to have taken up the leadership and mentor role left vacant by Charles Johnson (now on IR). 

Allen was especially talkative and demonstrative with both Mario Addison and Wes Horton. Throughout practice, Allen would stop and chat or demonstrate a move of the hips or perhaps a hand movement. The little things that can turn an average defensive end into a good one. 

I was really hoping to see the name Kony Ealy in this paragraph. If Ealy has any sense he will get under Jared's wing and stay there as long  as possible.

Man I wish CJ didn't get hurt and we could have these 2 on the field at the same time right away.

Pop quiz hot shot....what happens if we never would have gotten him if CJ wasn't hurt.  Would you still NOT want CJ hurt?  well, WOULD YOU?!?!??!

      Yes, but Bryce Young is what amplifies that concern for me for a super green HC and OC.   it’s all and marriages by Tepper IMO.  Canales and the new OC probably would have a better time getting their O running with a vet QB that is a natural fit.   again, I’m not arguing Canales and Morgan should be catering to Bryce at this point.  Just pointing out how pointless drafting Bryce looks at this stage.  And I don’t disagree you either can play or can’t and the O is irrelevant at this level.   I mean fit matters at this level.  Everyone is too talented.  Fit makes or breaks careers.

I was just saying having concerns about a one year OC transitioning to HC and trying to call plays like you have stated before as well implies he could be in over his head this first year. I’m not calling you out or anything. It’s a concern and I’m sure there will be some growing pains along the way. As for the Bryce thing, he is either a NFL QB or he isn’t. If he doesn’t look any better this year, then I think we simply move on and let Canales pick his guy. I think Beck has a big arm if that’s his type. Trying to build a very unique roster just to see if he can find success isn’t a good idea IMO. If he looks much better this year then sure you can cater a little more to his skillset.
