I kind of honestly wanted to make a thread title longer than that other dudes thread titles about Big Ben and Cam but we can still talk about the Panthers I think. How do you think Matt Rhule will use Christian McCaffrey in the same way as Norv Turner?

It does beg the question given how he ran offense in college, he preferred having a bigger back that could run you over out of the spread scheme or out of their power formations. Do you think we see similar usage, or are we going to run McCaffrey more and lower his numbers within the passing game?

How could be possibly run him any more?? I'd like to see him run less, if anything. He is gonna have 9 seasons of usage by the time his rookie deal is done.

Wow I logged in and thought something weird happened to my phone. Back to back paragraphed thread titles.

the question is presented in the title interestingly. I’d say he will use him the same in the fact that CMC is an elite RB with solid reliable hands, so he will use him frequently.

honestly I hope that Rhule can continue to build the offense for speed and give the QB a line to work with so the passing can get spread out a little and not rely on check downs so much. I’d be ok with smaller numbers for McCaffrey if it means the defenses are forced to stay honest and and we find a way to keep them on their heels.

Given McCaffrey can play between the tackles and outside and I expect him to be more jacked this year, why would you not keep him and use him regularly? He isn't declining due to overuse and has done something only two folks have ever done in the history of the league. Football coaches find a place for guys like him.

    • I will allow that sometimes the players sound smarter than I expected, vocabulary seems broad and seems like they know what the words mean when they use them. A lot of them.  Some others are perpetuating the cliche.    But our organizational IQ? Bryce Young is our starting QB and we have no one to challenge him. Low end of the bell curve.
    • Though question the validity of this chart, it does remind me of concerns I have with our offense. I’m unsure whether it’s Canales doesn’t trust Bryce to execute his gameplan or if the route concepts and scheme is vanilla and unimaginative by design.  When watching other games, the receivers seem like they get more separation and aren’t as clustered together as ours. The Panthers WR, TE and RBs, more often than not, seem very close to each other and almost like their feet are stuck in a lower gear in and out of routes/off the LOS. Often times, unclear of their positioning when the first read isn’t there and where they should be positioned within the options of that particular route concept (e.g. Bryce is under duress and the play breaks down….where do you go? Pre-snap we thought it was man, it’s disguised well as zone). It’s almost like if the coaches don’t tell them, the players aren’t intelligent enough to figure this out on their own. Or are the players simply doing as told by the coaches in film study, practice and in-game, which means the coaching is inept.
    • I think Young has totally killed the idea of drafting undersized QB's and hoping it works. Especially at such a high pick and putting all your cards on the table. He won't last in this league.
