Cam Newton "Nobody Called Me....They Sent a Text"

Love Cam, but let it go man. Whining about how he was cut does nothing for him now. He is a Patriot and should be worried about that, not the Panthers anymore. I get it, he deserved a face to face meeting, but the writing was on the wall which is why it took him a minute to get signed on a prove it deal worth up to $7.5 million.

Cam is an actor, he isn't real.  Anything he says is intended to put him in the best light.  I just wonder what story he'll make up when the Patriots thing goes south and he can't find a starting job anywhere.

Do note, that Cam is one of the many athletes who think in this mindset.  It's difficult for them to accept that they've lost a step after being praised their entire lives.  Cam says he's tired of being humble.  Maybe he doesn't know what humble is.

Jake got a tear filled release. Hurney was at the podium crying and all, yet Hurney couldn’t even do the same for a player that they all thought was done, and thought his shoulder was “shot”.

There’s more to it than that...

You can’t even use the excuse that Cam is a multimillionaire, because Jake was that too, and paid handsomely to leave. I guess there is a difference in who the millionaire is.

yeah, cam pissed off tepper.  making negotiations public with the commitment video, making videos about lying to the coach and trainers...

he pissed tepper off acting unprofessionally.  he got broken up with in a text because of it .  he already knew he was being released.  bus cook told him.

if you don't own your own business go piss on paycheck's shoes and see what happens.

and so what?  cam is in a better situation now anyway with a real chance to maximize his talents even if he did get drug on $

lmfao love all this "it's been at least 2 weeks since your major career/life change, time to move on and stop talking about it" like you guys don't still talk about the patriots 'cheating' against the panthers 17 years ago

The brass is wearing off those balls.

I always thought the way the Smitty departure was handled was extremely sh¡tty! It was easy to point the finger at Gettleman & Jerry Richardson as classless and unprofessional! Now, even under Mr. nice guy Hurney and David Tepper, the Panthers don't seem to have learned a thing. They were just as classless with Newton and Olsen! This crappy modus operandi needs to stop now! My team needs to get it together!

Jake Delhomme gets multiple phone calls and a huge press conference where both he and coaches along with the front office is sobbing.

Cam Newton gets a text.

Not hard to read between the lines here and to also see why many here aren't backing Cam and not noticing how terrible this organization handled the situation.

Jake was loved by Richardson and the whole staff. He was also.let go by these same people  Cam's best years were with Gettleman and Richardson. Both long gone. Tepper had no loyalty to Cam and all he saw was a constant injury issue and 6 wins in 2 years and 40 million dollars already wasted and another 21 million for this year with no guarantee he will make it through the year. And Hurney is not the main force anymore. Rhule went with Bridgewater which was Brady's decision when he actually became available and Tom Brady went to Tampa which was Bridgewater's rumored likely suitor before that.  I think it was a football decision and not personal.  Was it just me who thought that the relationship between the Panthers and Cam had cooled down quite a bit last year.

    • And again, the TLDR of the above is........ My expectations for T-Mac's rookie season have nothing to do with him and more because of my expectations for the rest of the WR room. I think his 2nd season when we then lose Thielen and replace him by just shifting everyone else up a spot in the pecking order and replace him with an end of the bench guy, is when he explodes for a huge yardage season. XL and Coker wouldn't make a good 1/2 combo with Thielen in the slot.  But T-Mac as the 1 with Thielen in the slot has the real potential to make XL/Coker an actual elite 2/4 combo.  Drafting T-Mac drastically changes the potential impact of those two, if anything, that's the biggest thing taking him did to the offense. Because honestly, how many teams have a 3rd and 4th receiving option as good as XL and Coker?
    • good one though it’s really no joke. I know a few friends and family members that suffer with this condition.
    • There's nothing normal about a 73 year old dating a 24 year old and a wildly successful NFL coach going to the college level in his twilight years is unprecedented. Yeah, raving success or absolute clown show. We'll see how it plays out on the field but this is why I was always very apprehensive about going after Belichick. The odds of it going the clown show route seem to be increasing by the day.
