Because Hurney needed to Win this season to keep his job.  And rolling out Grier or PJ, he knew he was a dead man walking.  He signed a QB he felt could win this team some games and he could be retained.

For some reason we thought he could be more than he's shown throughout his career. Everyone talks about his stint with the Saints last year but minus that 4 TD game against the Bucs' worst in the league pass D he pretty much looked like he's always looked.

Underestimation of just how awful the Panthers team is as a whole. Average of overall defense and offense rankings put them in bottom 3rd of the league, and not the top at that.

TB needs a great team around him like the Saints to succeed.

But it’s a two year deal. It’s not like it was a franchise crippling move, far from it. And there was no draft capital involved so in reality it means close to nothing considering the options.

should be a good lesson for our green coaches and management, and it appears they’re learning quick, Tepper does not want another managing QB

So you think a 30 year old, 1st year OC, walked in the door to a new job and became the reason why they signed Bridgewater?

he had a rep for taking care of the ball and being a really efficient signal caller. with our receivers and CMC that was supposed to be a pretty decent way to build something while the defense started gelling.

We could have signed Teddy for less years and/or money. Like 2 years 30, no guarantees or 1 year 15 million, no guarantees. 
I hate the guaranteed money we gave him. He didn’t deserve it. But if the guaranteed money was the reason why he signed with us and he wouldn’t of signed with us if we didn’t give him guaranteed money. I would have preferred not signing him. No guaranteed money we could of released him this year with no dead cap.
