Prime time candidate for cuts. 4th round pick from a previous GM + coaching staff, and a part of me is worried that Rhule won't think he's hungry due to opting out for COVID.

If I had one concern about Rhule & co atm, it's the talking out both sides of their mouths when it comes to player health & safety. He applauded DJax for pushing through turf toe all season and cut Eli Apple for supposedly milking a hamstring issue. While we have no idea what it looked like behind closed doors, that was something that stuck out to me.

Two sacks in seven games. He had his moments. We all know how difficult it can be for rookies to get on the field under Rivera. He could be capable of much more than we realize... or not. We'll see.

"Two sacks in seven games"

It looks like he entered 7 games, but only played 91 snaps? If so, that is roughly 1.5 games if playing full time.

As long as you are making assumptions about things about behind closed doors you can spin this however you like.

It's tough to read much into it from the outside. Might be something to it and it might be that Apple really was just mailing it in. I mean, he is a former top 10 pick who has bounced around the league who has been called a cancer by former teammates and no one came calling when we cut him.

I see your point but cutting Apple probably had more to do with work ethic issues and attitude which were problems at his previous stops.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
