I expect the Texans to continue this strategy as long as Watson remains silent. He's at least going to have to say that he isn't playing for them regardless of what they do, before they soften their stance. And of course, if they want to call his bluff, a sit-out may be in order.

Yep. It sounds like he's gone nuclear quietly behind the scenes but is trying to stay quiet and let others do his communication to the public. He might have to go nuclear publicly.

It would serve us no good to make statements like we will pay any price or that we have to have him. I don’t think this is coming from a legit source.

One of the reasons I think someone is just putting their own interpretation on it.

We'd be absolute morons to let something like this be known.

Most businesses don't have hard salary caps. Different ballgame.

The fact that there is a hard salary cap makes the smarter smarter, not dumber. Like I mentioned, Tepper purchased the franchise at a markedly lower bid than what was offered. Does this sound like a guy that just opens up the Brinks truck for no reason?

JR didn't have a choice. The league was forcing him to sell and Tepper was their chosen one.

I’ve been thinking that as well. Would it change their mind if he had a sit down with them and straight up told them no matter what they do he will never play for them?

    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
    • Just watched those buc Hawks highlights and good lord....both of them were slinging the ball around. Its definitely a talent issue, I dont know how anybody thinks bryce is just gonna go to another team and start doing that.
    • Thielen was traded away right before our season started. Coker got hurt right before our season started. Renfrow, a player that hasn't played in a while went from cut to being thrust onto the field. Moore, the one vet we did keep, is currently out. Bad things seem to happen trying to throw to XL. Oh, and Tremble was out for a few weeks while Sanders is currently out himself.  Simply starting the fact that we can't even keep a #2 on the field. You're hoping one of the many rookies pulls off a Coker and starts having consistent production.
