Joe Person: Panthers don't love other QB's besides Lawrence and Wilson

Because you suggested Lance could potentially be a late round flier pick you're delusional

I think he's just trying to say that Lance isn't worth the first because of his "bad mechanics" or whatever. not that theres any chance hes in the 2nd. Still dumb because his mechanics are fine. Not perfect but still fine. You would think Lance has The Golden Calf of Bristol tier bad mechanics.

I think he's absolutely boom or bust, but hell so was Cam. Just gotta do your homework and trust your evaluation. I won't be crushed if it turns out we aren't high on him.

if anything what the 49ers trade shows is that if you feel you only need 1 piece to be competitive, you can sacrifice a ton.  We are not 1 piece away, so sacrificing a ton for unproven commodity, even one as enticing as Wilson, seems too big a risk.

Serious question--when have the Panthers ever been just 1 piece away?

For that matter, "1 piece" is not always equitable. Voltron still has a chance missing the green lion, but he doesn't happen at all without the black lion.

Arguably we had teams in the Fox years that were a good QB away from being very, very good.  In the Cam years, it was often coaching or OL, and even a single difference on the OT... well, who knows...

But your second paragraph is exactly why you can trade the farm for a QB once the rest of your team is in decent shape.  Ours is not.  Trading the farm for someone entirely unproven is a HUGE risk. I was on board when we were talking about an existing franchise talent, but... we have too many holes IMO to give up 3 first round picks and 2-3 2nd/3rds to get Wilson.  If Fields falls to 5, he will be available for much less than that, though, and i'd be on board then.

I just don’t see a lot to be excited for next year if we don’t get a QB.
Parsons, Pitts and that CB whose name I forget may be great players but won’t inject excitement like a new QB would.

This rebuild is about building long term success. Not entertaining the fanbase next year on a guy they don’t even believe in. This is honestly music to my ears.

Again, the 49ers traded up for Wilson, not Fields or Lance .. Sewell is going #2

After Wilson and Lawrence, no QB worth trading up for ..

No, SF did not trade 3 firsts for anyone but Wilson

YOu do know that the Jets drafted an LT last season with pick 11, right? Mekhi Becton, and he played well for a rookie LT. So why would they give up potentially 3 first round picks plus at least another 3rd to draft another LT at 2? They either draft QB or trade down to add an offensive weapon that they surely need. If they don't go QB it would make a lot more sense to trade down with someone like Carolina so they have all those picks plus they should be able to get 1 of the big 4 receiving threats. If I were them, that's what I would do but what they do I doubt they even know for sure yet. But I'm 99% positive they won't draft Sewell at 2.

Yeah ok. No one knew Cam was done after 2016. He was 1 year removed from MVP. The draft talk that year was Fournette vs McCaffrey and Running Back vs Non RB. People were pissed at Ron for playing him in meaningless games in 2016 when he got fuged up but most assumed he would bounce back, which he did kinda in 2017.

Literally go ask anyone on a certain other website - it's well documented.
