Voth: OL or TE?

Getting Pitts is the ultimate icing on the cake pick.  But we don't even have a cake baked yet.

Until we fix the OL (and QB), Pitts would be wasted here and staying in to block half the time.  Granted, he could chip and be open 2 yards down the field exactly in Teddy's sweet-spot, but no thanks.

Trading back is a pipe dream.  The only reason someone will trade up (the other half of the "trade back" equation) is if there's a QB there.  If the QB is there, we take him.  If no QB on the board, the pick isn't going to hold the value.

Take the LT.  If you get to the point where your team is a QB away from winning it all, THEN you trade the farm to get your guy.

So the way it figures, 20 players will have already been drafted by the time we get to #8.

Jokes aside, I could see us trade down if the QB's and Sewell are gone. I mean if we traded down to the 10-14 range we'd have our pick of guys like Slater, maybe Parsons, Farley, Horn, or Surtain, etc... Throw in you might see a guy like Pitts slip if the cards play out right and possibly another team would pay to get ahead of Philly or New England to grab him. If we don't land a QB, then we are essentially just building for our future QB. Aquire picks, build talent and prepare.

Also I'm a big fan of Dillon Radunz from NDST, watch him in the senior bowl, reminds me a lot of Terron Armstead. Perhaps we'd be lucky enough to land him in the 2nd.

1 hour ago, Smithers said:

TE is a luxury pick for this offense.  We aren’t good enough to be making luxury picks at 8.  Fix the OL

Pitts is unique though.  He is a legit offensive weapon.  And probably the 3rd best player in the draft if ranking them purely as BPA.  Which IMO is Trevor, Chase, Pitts.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
