Asked about Christensen, Rhule says the team sees him as a right tackle at the moment.

Also mentioned Taylor Moton as "a guy who can flip flop", which makes me think they're gaining more confidence in his ability to play on the left.

Getting a musical chairs vibe with that left spot.

I'd trust Moton at LT with his lack of experience there over anyone else on the roster right now. Not sure why Okung wasn't brought back, he might want to play for this team.

My guess is Okung wasn't brought back because they need somebody they can depend on for more than just half the season.

Darnold to Arnold is going to be a thing.  I can feel it.

You're right we didn't do hail marys, we did more hail mary kicks.

Thats because we have not had a QB with the arm strength to throw a proper hail mary in about 3 or 4 years.

That’s a good ‘glass half full’ way to look at it.

I'm hoping for Arnold to take over TE1 and Tremble slowly move into TE2. I'm out on Thomas, the dude just isn't it.

Yep, me too. I loved Thomas going into the draft and thought he had a chance to develop into the best TE in that draft. After a promising rookie season, I just knew we had our future at TE in the fold. Fast forward a few years and I'm just ready to move on.

I hope Robby has a great year and cashes in big in FA.

I would love for Robby to have a great year but if his price is two high and we feel he is not affordable, Terrance Marshall, Shi Smith, etc are waiting in the wings, just hoping to showcase their talent and cash in on a big pay day.

Sorry, I was multi-tasking while listening and not able to take notes / write a summary, but I was very impressed by Haason Reddick's press availability yesterday.

The maturity of his comments, his perspective on the team as a seasoned NFL vet, but someone who knows Rhule from Temple days.  Really a good listen (other than the audio issues that have been affecting ALL of Panthers recent player interviews.  Be prepared for huge volume swings between question and answer!)

Jonathan Alexander's write up for the Observer from Today's minicamp practice has more detail than the other recaps I've seen so far from today:

https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article252161728.html

a few snippets:

Albeit two of the Panthers’ best pass rushers were wearing a red jersey and did not participate in 11-on-11 drills, Darnold was accurate. He threw two touchdowns passes — one to running back Reggie Bonnafon and another to tight end Ian Thomas. Both were inside the 10-yard line on situational drills.

Darnold also threw a 40-yard Hail Mary pass to Dan Arnold, though the defense was asked to back off. Still, the catch was impressive as he was able to keep both feet in bounds in the back of the end zone.

On the defensive side of the ball, rookie cornerback Keith Taylor made the biggest play.

Will Grier’s pass was tipped, allowing Taylor to come up with the interception. The Panthers took Taylor in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow has been complimentary of the rookie this offseason.

In the situational drills, McCaffrey served as a captain for the offense, and Shaq Thompson was the captain of the defense. Both were allowed to call timeouts if needed.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
