Carolina Panthers Training Camp - Sunday Thread

Have not read the entire thread--scuse me if this repeats---He mentioned CJ Saunders a few times--he was an overachieving slot at Ohio St--converted CB I think--don't sleep on him.  He is supposedly so smart, when he did not get a sixth year of eligibility, they hired him as a coach at OSU.

Rhule likes the cerebral guys.

Going out on a limb:

Anderson, Moore, Moore, Marshall, Shi Smith, CJ "Watch the QBs--they like guys who go up and get it" Sanders, Bayless.

Hardly anyone there covering the team these days. Used to be a core group of 6 that did every practice. Now it's down to two, three if you count David newton. I am banned from shooting anything past stretching basically so it's really not worth the drive down. These are short sighted decisions by the team that will eventually be corrected when they figure out what we do actually helps them

I was just thinking today that this seems like the quietest/most unremarkable training camp period across the league that I can recall. If all teams are doing this same throttling of content, a lack of exposure/content may be a reason why.

So the OL has actualized a bit more this camp.  Barring signings or injuries it’s looking like:

Erving-Elflein-Paradis-Miller-Moton

Swing backups: 6-Daley (T/G), 7-Scott (T/G), 8-Brady (G), 9-Deonte (G)
backup center: Tecklenberg?

Sounds like Daley v Miller and Scott v Erving are the battles remaining for LT and RG.

Don’t love that Elflein signing but we’ll see what shakes out.

Here's a synopsis if you don't want to take the time to listen to the interviews today.

I find it somewhat laughable that Rhule mentions CJ Saunders as a camp standout. He's the only one I've heard mention Saunders. Perhaps Saunders is a prime candidate for the practice squad. I think it's a case of Rhule being Rhule. No smoke, no fire!

He made a couple nice plays at fan fest.

My guess is Elflein would be the backup center and someone else would slide into LG.

But our veteran lineman are so.....ugh....

I get where you are coming from.

If our vet guard is one of the worst in the league you would think a rookie could also be one of the worst in the league, but maybe the coaches think they would be next level worst. 🙂

Yeah. I was hoping we would see our young players be the answer and give me a little more hope. Maybe in a couple of years they will be there or maybe we will have filled those holes adequately.

Hes still a rookie and some are ready before others. Its deal where Christ could put together 2 straight weeks of great practices and be on the fast track to a starting role. Not listing this as a excuse, but dear god how do you get better as a OLmen when theres huge limit on padded play?? I think theres only 14 padded practices for the whole season??? Panther had one and it was cut short due a bad judgement. GOOOOOOODDDLLLUUUUCCCCCKKKK with ALLL of that. For me that feels impossible, not even joking/memeing...like vet OL are the only way to go, cause no rookie OLman is going to develop. Players union is truly hurting the development here.

Back on Chirst/OL, where I'm at is same as before. Im waiting for live snaps with this wide zone. This thing is 5 OLmen playing as one unit with the same goal. Lots of moving the flow and reestablishing the line/end/middle/etc. You need a OL thats in best shape as possible.

Someone else that truly understands.

If BC is a solid player, he should start most of our games. If he doesn’t with Elflein and Miller in front of him, that’s a bad sign considering that a majority of recent day 2 picks start as rookie. I can’t imagine more opportune scenarios for a rookie than our OL outside of Moton. Kind of like Little not being able to beat out the crap in front of him at LT in 2019.

Yeah. If he can't make his way through this lot by the end of the season, I don't have a ton of hope. He's 24 so we can't really have a 2-3 year development cycle and it make a lot of sense.

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Seriously--a philosophy major?  I was English Lit.

No, dual major Finance and International Economics.  But I love the great English, Irish and Welsh writers and poets of the late 1800’s… Yeats, Kipling, Tennyson, Dylan Thomas, Carroll, Chesterton.  I’ll also throw in Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, though they are a different century and genre of writing.

Finance has shaped my professional career and served me well, but in my free time, I enjoy great writing.  So many great writers, so little time.  And I am a little jealous of your major.

I seen reports that Christ was having a typical rookie experience......looking rough and overwhelmed against 4th stringers. It reminded me when norwell was a UDFA and that put him in a one V one against second rounder Kony Ealy........and norwell destroyed him. May have to wait a while for Chirst and thats normal/fine...

Where have u seen this?

Better yet, if we have Christ on our team, I say the heck with Sam, we put the Messiah at QB.
