Thanks for checking in, you were definitely one of the dopes I was referring to. How about this, Mr. "Read Between the Lines", show me one shred of actual evidence that was ever the case?

you spend A LOT of time worrying about those tin foil idiots, dont you?

What is clear is the Panthers are giving Darnold every possible opportunity to succeed. The Panthers have a really good stable of WRs (when was the last time they could say that?) and continuity in knowing they'll likely be together for the next couple of years.

Regarding the contract, it just bumps up his salary this year to 12.5 and then adds two years and $25 to that. Of the 37.5M, 20 is guaranteed. I saw nothing about a signing bonus, so it's likely there would be NO hit to the cap if Robby doesn't work out and is released at the end of next year. I don't see a downside.

That one just annoyed me a lot because it was invented completely out of thin air and spread like wildfire here, despite not a single shred of any INKLING of a rumor being attached to it.

Robby's old contract at the bottom, but something to look at

Dj Moore's contract is really going to be in a stalemate with Calvin Ridley. Their agents are going to want one of those dominos to fall first.

Where Ridley gets over is the 26 TDs compared to 10. That's pretty stark, although it helps when you have Julio on the other side. D.J. is going to have to up his scoring. His route running, though still not the best, has improved some. He's such a YAC monster and absolutely consumes those 50/50 balls, that one can forgive his lack of elite route running. It's going to be interesting to see who gets more money between them.

On an off note, Robby gets his YAC as well, and is apparently a tough little guy, but he's more like lightning, where D.J. brings the thunder.

I would have rather had the money available to get a LT in FA next year if necessary but I have no concerns about the deal, especially the way its structured. I just hope we can get a top LT with the 32nd pick.

We will still have plenty of money available next off season to sign a top flight LT if one somehow became available.  Have you seen how much cap space we have projected coming up the next couple of years?  And that is all before the NFL raises the cap dramatically, as is projected.  I know its foreign around here to have a lot of flexibility and cap space, but this is a new regime and they actually seem to understand how to work the salary cap.
