Not that I think we should do this or will do this - and it appears we have a great punter - and I also realize that having a kicker that can also punt in an emergency (with some sort of excellence) is what we are after... now with all those disclaimers in place....

Has any team ever run with only 1 kicker to do kick offs, FGs, and punts?  Would be nice to free up a position.

Pretty sure a team did this a few years ago. Forget who.

But in the age of Covid, I doubt you'd want to risk 2 specialist positions on 1 guy. The fact that Santoso can punt is a plus in these days when you can so easily lose players suddenly to the Covid list.

From what I've read, there was some thought in New York about using Santoso as a kickoff specialist.

and who would kick field goals? Seems kinda backwards.   You only need a kickoff specialist if your FG kicker is weak legged.

The coaching staff will have tomorrow nights game, pre-game warmups, Sunday’s practice, and Monday’s practice to properly evaluate Santoso

If Santoso is not a substantial upgrade don’t be surprised if they simply stick with Joey Slye. His automatic touchbacks and large thick penis still have value to the team

Is that a Joe Person inside scoop?

The most likely outcome outside of sticking with Joey is that he wins the job initially, gets a shot the first few games but at some point during the season starts stinking it up which shows why MN didn't want him kicking FGs and he hasn't gotten a shot in the NFL before. Then we lose the pick and still have sh*tty kicking.

I hope he's just great but this isn't a very inspiring trade. He's just some scrub nobody, and we have no real reason to believe that he'll be any better than Slye at this point...

I was like, "What the fug?" His career stats (if you can call them that) aren't too inspiring.

    • Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game. If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams. 😄
    • That was real fear in his eyes when the rope was being taken. My younger days, I had my best friend that happened to be black come over all the time. I had the nicest bulldog on the planet, my friend Damon was scared to death of him. His grandmother and daddy taught him to fear all dawgs and seen the same fear in his face and voice.    I think alllll young kids should take swimming lessons and not fear the water. Very thankful my parents did this, I no longer get in the ocean since its 50% sewage. But I enjoyed all the lakes, pools, and oceans I swam in.
    • My personal opinion is the non-guaranteed contract is the main reason for NFL success. MLB and NBA players are on cruise control after their big contracts and it shows in the product.  NFL is each year you are fighting for your job. Same for the majority of the public.... You get lazy or try to coast after the 100+ million contract, your ass will be cut within 1-2 years. Then the next one will not even touch 100 million+. Besides a few NBA players like Kobe was coming for blood with a 300 million contract or 1 doll hair deal. Brandy Beal just reached a buyout where he was getting 110 million, many other cases..... I dare say his name for the hornets guy..... MLB sooo many times as well.    If the NFL starts fully guaranteeing all contracts, Id have a new hobby to fill the hours of entertainment NFL gave me.
