The turnovers were HUGE vs rookie Herbert.   He had 2 which became auto FGs.  6 points was the difference in the game.

But outside of the turnovers, we did a poor job making a rookie look like a rookie.   He completed over 70% of his passes, 300+ yards, and got his team into the endzone more times than the Panthers.

Let's hope the Panthers D can step that up a little this year vs a rookie.

I don't think anyone made him look like a rookie last year - that's why the Chargers are so excited.

What should we expect for Marshall Sunday? Do you think he will see a lot of targets or will he be 4th in the pecking order?

If the Jets focus on not letting Robby beat them and keep an eye on DJ, I think TMJ will get plenty of Targets.

Jet's, even if improved dramatically, will not have it together in the first game. Let alone that first game being on the road. Rookie QB hoping for greatness won't be able to pull off the perfect game on the road. Our defense will be able to get pass rush and pressure the young rookie QB. He could make some plays, but can their defense stop ours. And more importantly, can the Jets completely new offense keep up with ours. I imagine some rust on our team as well. Ultimately I see our rhythm being similar to the preseason game against the Steelers. Moderate start, but pile up some points towards halftime and the second half. Being on the road will be too much for the Jets, and our defensive pressure will keep the Jets from matching our productivity on offense. Maybe a close 1st/2nd quarter, but we will pull away late.

I swear to God if I see us giving Wilson just enough time to dink and dunk around our questionable linebackers I'll flip my poo. This defense needs to get off the field in 3rd down.  Can't give the rook any confidence.  Panthers win 21-14 because I said so.

This is a beat down waiting to happen..

They don't match up well with us at all.. A game manager Sam Darnold is a blowout for us..

We seem to get TO and the 1st team defense gave up nothing.. To establish teams.. This is a rookie coach with a rookie QB leading a very young team... They just started a rebuilding project that we're Atleast 2 years ahead of..

28 - 10 panthers..

    • And this is how the proverbial ‘window’ is created. You go 2 CONSECUTIVE drafts where you have to hit on your first 2 picks, but you also strike gold on a few later round guys as well. Over the course of a couple years, you’ve loaded the team up with 5+ studs (on rookie contracts) who raise the level of play of everyone around them. If there is a franchise QB in place already, a legacy is now possible.  The TIMING of hitting on the right kind of talent is crucial. Hitting on a stud here and there every few years actually HURTS the team. Just by their high level of play, the team may win 2+ games they had no business winning, and really screw up draft position. Now the team is stuck in draft purgatory, constantly missing out on a top 5 pick.  This team is close to having the must have spots filled. QB (controversial), LT (controversial), WR, center (TBD), edge, DT and corner. These are the spots the real contenders are deep at.  Draft teachable, high motor, healthy 5 star performers from top 15 schools who show up to play every Saturday and play like they actually love the game. Just imagine the boost that hitting on 2 stud edge guys AND an LT over the course of 2 years.  Stop this dumbass wasted 2nd round pick from eastern Idaho state tweener project safety who had 1 good year after coming back from a season ending knee injury, but he impressed at the combine…. And this is exactly what this draft was.
    • CRA, honestly I think you're giving other QBs too much credit. WRs bail out their QB more times than not in tight coverage. Yes, sometimes it's a perfectly placed ball that only the receiver can get to. But the receiver still has to make the play. QBs just give them a chance - trust factor. In that last game against ATL, Penix threw a lot of passes he had no business throwing. His recievers made play after play for him - that and our secondary had zero ball skills. That's normally how it goes.  Panthers rarely have guys running wide open through defenses, so most passes are contested due to tight coverage not necessarily bad ball placement. It was that way for most of Cam's career. That's why Darnold struggled so much. That's why things got difficult for Baker. That's the difference in Carolina. And that's why they chose TMac instead of an Edge.  Bryce was trying to wait on a guy to get open, or get in a position where he could throw them open. That, mixed with a bad oline, was why he struggled so much early and lost confidence. Difficult ask for a rookie QB. Hopefully he's figured it out going into his 3rd season.
    • That hasn't been the Steelers way. They just keep being above .500 while not being able to draft a QB and they won't do a mega deal it takes to get in position to draft a QB either. They have tried the duds that fall to them and are available to them in free agency but that's it. They don't reload either, just stay above .500 while not being close to contenders. It's crazy they can't lure a half decent QB in free agency because they are set up to win but nothing. This year they even took a swing at a toxic and washed Rogers. They just don't reload because it goes agaisnt what keeps them above .500 for so many years now. If they did then they would have to get rid of a lot more than an idiot WR to get into a position for a top QB next year. Wilson stank last year and they still won 10 games lol.
