With all due respect, Sam was following his own long standing personal sense of responsibility and integrity.  He is the same mature young man he was in HS, college and when he entered the NFL.  If you knew his parents, you would understand how he was raised.  Sam may share Coach Rhules mantra, but it was ingrained in Sam long ago.

I understand the negativity and questioning of Sam’s performance in the NFL thus far…..I don’t get involved in that, but I just have to say that the manner in which he takes responsibility for his, and the teams performance in a loss, all on himself, is who Sam has always been.

Yep.   If he didn't have that, he would've tossed Adam Gase under the bus....BUT HE DIDN'T.

That's what is lost here in this admiration society thing going :   Sam was always like this.

Now hopefully his Play on the Field is just as good.

Taking responsibility. Just like Kenny Powers. I love it!

I miss that show, deeply miss that show. One of my biggest laugh ever was when cleg took Kenny for his autograph session and dropped the robocap blowjob line. Needed more cleg, vastly underused.

It's not surprising he has the maturity to take responsibility for things and not to throw people under the bus.  Darnold was Jets captain at least in 2020 and I think 2019 as well.  There's some weird narrative on this board about him lacking in leadership that is not borne out by even a cursory glance... It's weird stuff.

Same here. Although, I really felt the first season was the best one, every scene was hilarious. Yeah, Cleg was an integral character for sure lol

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
