That's not what I said it's just a matter of reality. We're all seeking the same result we just don't want the oline which has been a thorn for years to hold us back from all this potential yet again. We are putting a huge amount of resources in this defense but if our quarterback can't do his job it's all for naught.

How was Fitt supposed to know that he going to get these guys for at this price?

And besides, Jaycee Horn is an All-Pro CB in the making.  I don't think people realize how good he is in man coverage, but they will.  I would have been cool with us drafting him even if we had already acquired Gilmore.  

We'll get the OL fixed.  Ya'll really think a GM who is this proactive in fixing our issues is going to let the OL keep sucking for another season?  Let's just be patient ya'll.  I mean do ya'll remember how bad our secondary was in 2019?  Look how fast we fixed it.  Remember how bad our DL was in 2019?  Look how fast we fixed it.  We got this.

bingo. the pick given is a 2023 pick, which just happens to be the same year the Panthers would get a comp pick for Gilmore if he doesn't re-sign this offseason. and yeah, I'd probably put money on that comp pick being higher than a 6th. of course this is dependent on other FA moves the team might make after this year.

Pretty clear they just thought Horn was the better prospect. And at #8 overall, you should be taking the best guy on your board. End of story. There is no way to predict that months later he'd have the chance to trade for multiple quality starting CBs in the middle of the season.

Did you mean to put Pride’s name in with those other guys?

Had Pride not gotten hurt, he most likely would’ve gotten cut

      We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that

      There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
