Dude Darnold sailed 3 passes that were chain movers. Nearly all his picks today were flat out panic mistakes . He sucked ass and it cost the team.

A franchise QB would have put this game away early.

I mean a QB is allowed a bad game. Can't be good or great every game. However an OC that is consistently terrible should not be tolerated. Same for ST coaching and terrible Oline play. Changes need to be made there.

As of right now, Rhule plays scared to lose. He doesn’t play to win. End of the first half was the perfect example. Analytics said to go on 4th and 2. Rhule decides to punt. Eagles get 3 regardless. That’s pretty much a microcosm of how Rhule coaches right now. Brady’s play calling is embarrassing as well.

I am more against Rhule almost than anyone. Other than the OL Rhule may be the weakest link

Our offense is pathetic, defense got 2 turnovers in the 3rd quarter and we got 0 points. Of course darnolds 3 interceptions didn’t help, and we play to conservatively the series before  the eagles went down and scored. Did 2 running plays in a row then threw when they had to on third down, like they were satisfied with a 5 point lead. Offense and coaches should be in embarrassed, looks like the season that was looking so promising might end up being a wash. That’s a shame with all the talent they have.

Brady should no longer be OC next season. He has to make that move.

https://www.derp/2021/10/5/22710073/why-is-the-panthers-offense-under-joe-brady-so-bad-in-the-third-quarter

This article was written after the Dallas game. But it brought out something that can't be ignored...especially after today's lackluster 2nd half. I'll quote part of it below.

"...over the last eight games the Panthers offense has been terrible in the third quarter, producing just 17 total points over that stretch."

Behold the carnage:

Panthers third quarter performance

Year Week Opponent Panthers Pts Opponent Pts
2020 14 Broncos 3 12
2020 15 Packers 7 0
2020 16 Football Team 0 3
2020 17 Saints 0 10
2021 1 Jets 0 8
2021 2 Saints 0 0
2021 3 Texans 7 0
2021 4 Cowboys 0 20
    Total 17 53

"That’s an average of 2.1 points per third quarter, or just over eight points per game at that rate. To get even more granular, Carolina’s offense has scored an anemic seven points over their last six third quarters."

And as I pointed out earlier that doesn't include the game we gave away today. If you factor it into the numbers our points per 3rd quarter would be lower since we didn't score a point...AGAIN.

I know Brady has a desire to be head coach. I think it would be wise to let him pursue every opportunity available to him. Of course, if rest of the NFL is already hip to the statistics above (and the current trend continues) then I can't see any team hiring him in the off-season

I'm going to have to lean more towards this. Despite the shitty O line play..there were more than a few opportunities there early.

50/50 Darnold and that terrible OL.

Definitely, can’t blame Darnold for having little time to throw but he has to understand…you have a lead, don’t force throws, just throw it away.  Having a weak O-line is nothing new this season, he was smart with the ball in earlier games this season.  He was careless today.

Sam had a bad game last week. What was good about it was that he rebounded.

This game was awful because it was clear the better team lost. If Sam hits those 3 sailed balls or Robby makes the catch then we likely win this game.

But what is becoming evident is that Darnold isn’t developing fast enough to put the team on his back. Now that isn’t necessarily his fault but Rhule thinks the team is good enough for roll with it. Problem is we don’t have an o-line that can get any push or #2 RB that can turn the corner fast enough for big gains.

Cam would have put 30 points on this defense easy.

With CMC we no doubt win this game. But our flaws have become quite clear.

Just wondering how long it would take for Panthers fans to realize they have college coaching. They are prepared to start fast and lead. Clearly not prepared during the week to comeback and close out games.

Bridgewater shined a light on it after last season and he clearly knows more than Rhule and Brady at the NFL level.

The coaching will need another 3 to 5 years at the pro level to mature and have a chance at being nfl championship level.

Or maybe a new QB and a few more DBs will fix it.

Players are talented. Darnold and Bridgewater are good NFL QBs. Preparation to win during the week is poor, and a clear lack of understanding from coaches on what it takes to set up a team up to win consistently.

Panthers will win when players are hot and they don't have to win close games at the end. That's what this team was built for. It's not college ball anymore Rhule and company.

Coaches are headed back to college in a couple seasons anyways.

He does throw it away, a lot. He also turtles up and takes sacks, a lot. At a certain point he has to try to get the ball to a receiver.

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.
    • Petey Pablo raises up for the Carolina Panthers pregame at the Roaring Riot tailgate. videoplayback (30).mp4
    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
