Chuba Hubbard is a NFL starter

He just can't catch.

He has been hitting the holes with burst and if we ever actually stuck to the run. OFC that would mean run blocking...entire office is just trash. It's like we have some nice individual puzzle pieces but when we try to put them all together we get into an argument and flip the table and start kicking the pieces around.

Oh and also yall remember when the ends of some of the puzzle pieces would bend and the edge would crisp up and start flaking off. That represents all our injury prone offensive players.

The problem is Chuba drops 9/10 check down passes. But other than that, yea he’s a quality starter. Drop off from CMC is drastic though. Good enough on a team with a good QB to take advantage of our WRs so the defenses can’t just crowd the line and cover the passes easily with three or four DBs.

Because the giants stacked the box and sat on routes because Darnold sucks?

You have to keep running to set up play action, even if it might be into a stacked box. They just got shut down by a BAD Giants defense. Darnold was terrible but so was the playcalling.

I don't think there is a huge drop off in rushing, but CMC is far beyond Chewy when it comes to receiving. CMC is better than a lot of WRs to be honest. Great hands, great quickness, and great technique. Dude is special.

And it doesn't matter that CMC is special since he can't stay healthy enough to play. Chuba wins by default since he is healthy enough to play.

I really think Chuba is good enough to start in this league and do very well. The drop off from McCaffrey really isn't all that drastic. Most of the problem is that Chuba is open on the check down but Darnold would rather throw a pick down field.

I think Chuba will be a good NFL starter. His blocking and hands still needs work though.  He definitely progressed yesterday after he went for the blitzing players knees though, he actually corrected and stood up a blitz later in the game.

Play action only works if you can effectively run the ball. You can’t run the ball if defenses are stacking the box because your quarterback sucks at reading the field and the defense knows this. Darnold is a zero threat in the passing game. Let alone a deep threat. Darnold puts zero stress on defenses. Makes everything insanely predictable. No OC is going to be successful with Darnold at qb.

    • Director of College scouting should be next. I'd like to see the organization go after Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy who's a good friend of Dan Morgan back in their time in Seattle
    • I always just go back to what I said at the time. Trade Burns to the Rams because it's a fantastic deal. I was screaming it. I'm still angry at Fitt over that. Right after he turned down the deal I said he needed to get into a time machine and go back and make the deal. Hate that dude. Ruined our team. Trading D.J was a major mistake because what matters most in the NFL is the passing game, so you never unload a proven #1 WR when there are other options. Always trade a defensive player over a WR if you have that option available. Fitt was precious about defensive players when we had a passing offense that didn't function. That's how know he was completely incompetent. The passing offense is the top priority, so until that is functioning all defensive players are possible trade fodder. At this point we're in a rebuilding year under a new GM and a QB who looks absolutely horrendous. It makes perfect sense, if you follow all of our moves, that we would be the worst team in the NFL. Of course we are. You can't screw up as a GM that many times over the years and not ruin the franchise. We're exactly where we should be, dead last, or bottom 3. Whichever you like. But this is the here and now. Dan did a good job getting our 2nd round pick back, and we won't know about the picks until they take the field in regular season games. We're in dark until then, but if they suck the Panthers media will hide it shamelessly. Remember when Young was supposed to be a football genius? Yeah he was rancid turds out there when live fire started. There is some hope. Either Young improves and we win more games, or he stays about the same and we draft a new QB in 2025. Either way the NFL will help us out of this jam, but all we need is for Dan not to screw it up.
