Cam looks and sounds different

I watched his press conference and then that video on his YouTube channel.  I was impressed with his press conference.  My 1st thought was that he looked like he has aged 10 years in the past 2.  Also, he sounds different.  He mentioned several times it was not about him. He sounds more at peace with things.  He talks about being spiritual...a lot of people do, but this sounds different than before.

He sounds like he is still playful Cam, but something seems different.  How many players would return to the team who cut him like the Panthers did?  He seems so at peace with it.  This is weird in a good way.

I really hope his shoulder is good.  I want this move to be great.

It was the single most impressive press conference he's ever given. I agree with EVERYTHING you said, and I'm praying for the last part.

Cam is no different than he's always been. Genuine. He's always been about winning and putting the team first by doing whatever means necessary. I think it took him leaving/being cut for people and fans to realize what was truly lost. There will never be another QB like Cam and I'm grateful that he's being given somewhat of a chance to continue his career with this franchise. If there's a QB out there that can wait to suit up until half way through the regular season to help carry a team to the playoffs, it's definitely Cam Newton.

We got to see Can grow and mature in front of us but in my opinion he has always been one decent guy. He did tons for the city of Charlotte and the communities around when he was here before and served as a great role model as well. Kids loved him and he out smiles on their faces every damn time he saw one. I witnessed that a few times in person when there were no cameras around. He was one of those Panthers that I personally felt love for as a human being. I know he had some tough times in his personal life as we all do but he still put on a smile for the fans especially the kids and that meant the world to see. He was and still is also my 12 year olds favorite player. Hell, he has been since my kid was like 5 years old.

I so want to see him finish this season successful but I worry about him behind this line. The sentimental person in me wants to see him get back his old form and lead this team a few more years then retire a Panther. He is on any Panthers Mount Rushmore for sure. He has to be. I don't honestly see how any Panthers fan couldn't love him just by his presence he brings and what excitement and joy he brought to the kids at the games alone. Screw the other QB's, I may sound crazy but I just want Cam back and healthy and throwing some good passes to some open receivers then see him make all the guys around him on the field hand out footballs and smile. He is a leader and led by example. I don't give a damn if he had a day when he threw 4 ints, he was still Super Cam to my boy and for that I love the dude like he was my own family.

I was gonna do a deep dive on his body language and stuff I caught, but you pretty much summed it up here.

He just feels different, but at his core, he's still the same. A competitor that wants to win. Cam is always going to be a vibe. That's in his nature but his perspectives and goals have changed.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
