After Reddick and Gilmore get paid, we keep a couple other of our own FAs, and sign the draft…I’m not sure exactly what you have left out of 30m…but it most definitely won’t be enough for any kind of splash at. And that’s not even factoring a QB.

I have to break it to peeps, I’m not sure where this ‘we have tons of cap’ came from but it’s actually 2023 that is the magic year with tons of cap we can ultimately start looking options.

Dumpster diving next year.

The trick to having a good line is only paying on or two guys top dollar and finding other guys who can not suck while doing their job.  In particular, it's far more common to find teams paying most of their OLine money on the tackles than the interior.

This is why I've been such a proponent of Brady Christiansen.  Not because I am convinced of his ability, but because it's CRITICAL that we find out if he has it.  If the guy is a LT, we need to KNOW going into free agency.

Likewise, we spent a draft pick on Deonte Brown.  The dude needs to play.  If he's an NFL guard, we need to KNOW going into the offseason.

If both BC and Brown turn out to be NFL players, our entire offseason takes on a different complexion.

We have 30m right now. Everyone is forgetting the cap is probably increasing 20 mil or so. Then there is always an easy 5-10 million in cuts.

So probably looking at 55 million. Minus 8 for draft picks.

47 million.

minus Gilmore and Reddick (15 mil a piece roughly)

Gives us 17 million.

So still broke. Might be the smartest move to only resign Reddick OR Gilmore if we want to fix the OL.

I think we could also see some extensions that piss some of us off, starting with Darnold. I don't think Rhule/Fit will be willing to admit & eat the cap for their mistake, so congrats on your 2 year extension, Sammy.  He's our backup for the next 3 years.

Going to take the 18 mil for next year, turn it into a contract for 25 total, and spread it over 3.  Granted, I doubt Sam would agree to that, but I think it's our most likely option to put lipstick on that pig unless the FO surprises us and is willing to move on.

So you structure guys contracts where the big money starts in 2023? Give them big signing bonuses with voidable years on the back end and make the actual cap hit for the first year manageable for the team.

We need to part with some wasted cap first. I haven't looked at the numbers but we will be dumping some dead weight to get that 30 million higher.

No idea who but depending on who is here and in charge will set that pace.

No Armstred, his injury history is just a repeat of the last 2 guys we brought in. Great value in the 3rd but he isn't healthy enough to rely on any more.

Getting just adequate help would be such an improvement, that and healthy.

    • Regardless of how we got here, any rational fan should be excited by how well Bryce played down the stretch. Anyone not happy about that level of play either doesn't know what they're looking at, or they're still trying to drive tired narratives. Obviously, Cam had an all-time rookie season, and I'm not putting the two in the same basket yet, but as someone who has watched every snap of Panthers football since the start of the new millennium (Im old), Bryce was playing at a higher level at the end of 2024 than Cam was at the end of 2012 (his 2nd season). Cam continued to develop into MVP form, something Bryce has to prove, but as someone who watched both (and will stan for Cam always), Bryce was playing at a higher level to end year 2 than Cam did.  Go watch the film if you dont believe me. None of that means anything for the future. But the people who said BY9 couldnt play in this league are wrong.   That being said, the only thing that matters is this year. #20 is perfectly fair IMO going into the season. I mean think about it, how would you rank him??!  His in-season turnaround is one of the wildest things I've ever seen... how do you rank a guy who looked like a massive bust in September and by January was consistently playing at a top 10 level? My excitement level is pretty damn high heading into this season. There were throws from the Chiefs game onward where Bryce had Drew Brees levels of anticipation. Im excited to see what he can do with a full deck on offense, something we really never gave Cam. Really hope and expect Bryce to move up this list this season.
    • Not really, the only QB's (other than Anthony Richardson) ranked below him are new to their teams as a placeholder starter or drafted in 2024 or 2025, not a lot of gymnastics to get there. It's not about how many that is, if it's 20, 12, or 2... It means there isn't a QB who's team has committed to them for the long term right now that they have ranked below Bryce. That's not a great thing.
    • The changes to onside kicks were ridiculous and ruined a significant part of the game     It was already a high risk low reward play.  Why change it?
