Miami no longer in for Watson

Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reports now-fired coach Brian Flores was a driving force in the Dolphins' interest in Deshaun Watson.

Robinson is not suggesting that interest led to the surprising firing on Monday, but it would seem to remove one of the most likely landing spots for the embattled quarterback. According to Robinson, the tandem of Flores and GM Chris Grier was one of the reasons Watson was willing to waive his no-trade clause. With half of that duo gone and Flores no longer pushing for the move, it is possible Miami looks elsewhere. Yet to be suspended or have any real developments in his situation, Watson will again be one of the stories of the offseason.

That leaves the Panthers and Broncos as possible destinations.

Why would Watson want to come here?

He didn’t this past season and Tepper was willing to go a special kind of stupid to get him. Now? What has changed?

No one else wants him because of his charges. We just need to stop trying so hard and just draft a QB.

His options...I still don't see this happening for us, no early picks after our 1st, no OL, and an idiot for a coach. We'll be trotting Sam out there again like a new OC will matter.

Panthers and Watson already had mutual interest, Watson was interested in Miami because of Flores... Tepper please be a savage and fire Rhule today and hire Flores.

I generally support keeping Rhule, but Flores is one of the few coaches on the market I would want.

Why would any decent quarterback willingly join up with a lameduck coach and the worst team in the NFL with a historically bad offensive line?

Didnt Tom Brady just do this? Saved the coach's career as well.

Bucs broke a ton of records (not good ones) the year before Brady came. They went out and got o-line talent and Brady in the same offseason. Arians went from all but fired, to a super bowl winning coach.....

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
