Not for nothing, but there were a lot of people on this board who thought if our QB was better than Teddy, we were a playoff team.  So our brain trust was not the only delusional group.

With the right QB, just about any team could be a fringe playoff team, especially with almost half the conference going to the playoffs. All you have to be is above average. I think with the right QB, we are a playoff team. The biggest question marks are oline and coaching. A great QB can somewhat overcome a bad oline. Enough to get to playoffs. I believe our D is good enough and our skill positions are good enough - for 6/7th seed. Playcalling this past year was incredibly questionable as well as our QB play.

Yep I remember that, but that was during the season at the trade deadline in which Dillard was playing due to injuries. Maybe things change for them in the offseason and maybe not. I would call to check at least

I agree that it never hurts to ask, but don't think teams will give up anybody that isn't overpaid, injury prone, and/or on the downside of their careers. Then those teams will use the draft to replace the ones they let go. I'd rather see the Panthers be the team drafting promising young guys instead of overpaying for others' castoffs.

Grab him since he will be there. Take the pick and don't worry about what anyone else says, just get that line in place, young and able. If the new coordinators and coaches can do their thing with them, Rhule might be able to save his own job. If he goes QB first, then it's over for him before week six.

Yep. Take Linderbaum if he's the BPA on the board regardless of positional value or whatever other excuse people will claim to not take a center that high.

Just as it has speculated that Rhule was told to get some real NFL coaches I have to hope that he is not going to have full control of the roster.  That is a big wish I know.  Has Tepper seen the light and decided that hIs NFL people need to be making the big decisions?  Just trying to find a way to have some hope.

If Tepper really saw the light, Matt Rhule wouldn't be the head coach.

That does kinda hurt the eyes to read, doesn't it?

I was thinking the same thing.

My hope is that Fitt will start drafting a qb every year like he said he believed in. Of course the guy in charge doesn't seem to listen to his minions so there's that.

Again, just saying check in on him, never know until you ask. Guy is far from a cast off, he is a legit starting LT in the NFL. Dillard is still on his rookie deal as 2022 will be his 4th year. Philly will have to eventually (maybe not this year) make a decision, pay 3 tackles starting money, lose Dillard for nothing in free agency, or make a trade. I would love to draft young Oline talent as well, but have zero faith in Rhule to do so.

I expect us to address the o line in free agency and in the draft. We have all the cap room we want. It just depends on who we resign to cap friendly deals and who we don't bring back.  I have to believe we let Brady play left tackle so we are looking for a guard or two in the draft and the same in free agency with a few depth picks. Unless we can get a top tackle at 6, I would trade back if possible, get a second or third round pick and still get one of top QBs in the draft later in the first.. Use the acquired pick on an O linemen.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
