That said, it would be incredibly stupid a try and obtain Watson before his legal situation plays out unless there is some sort of clause, but even a clause would be very complicated if not impossible due to retroactive and obviously unequal capital ie specific draft picks and capital that cannot simply be replaced. This probably isn’t as simple as a ‘conditional pick’.

The League Office wouldn't approve the trade...

It’s virtually impossible to guess what will happen, the amount of and specific information needed is not something everyone is privy to - and aside from that very important factor, you simply can’t guess what a jury, judge, state prosecutor will do when presented with such information, course the latter would be easier to do with the former, but still not fail proof.

Another personal perspective point from someone with experience - settling is the only way at this point. He is not innocent. You simply do not have this kind of case with nothing. You do not have this kind of magnitude with nothing. It would not be allowed. Problem is, some victims are refusing to settle. This actually might be a rare instance where some care about the truth out there more than money. That tends to happen when you have a mass amount of victims vs. a couple. All it takes is one.

Some are even willing to take the money and drop the charges with the exception that the truth/evidence is allowed to come out (refusing nondisclosures), but won’t do so otherwise. Watson has refused this. Funny, isn’t that?

So in essence I can’t begin to fathom anyone, even amateurs, in the legal realm that would advise for this without it being resolved. Then you have what the NFL will do which is a whole other topic.

It is a monumentally horrific notion and the fact some huddlers even consider this absolutely blows my mind.

Even if they got Watson this franchise would continue to be inept and find a way to waste any talent on the roster. I’m pretty confident that whoever they draft at 6 or end up trading for will ultimately bust under the current regime regardless of the player and their skill set.

The rams were inept for how long? The LA rams that is. How long did it take for them to win a super bowl? And why? QB.

The strangest thing about the Watson dream is that he suddenly makes us a contender.  He is good but he isn’t that good.  Silly.  If we somehow got Rodgers this team would be amazingly better but Watson hasn’t played in 2 years.  Who knows what we are getting with him.

It would absolutely make us a contender. Remember, we put a high bid on trying to get Stafford. I was one the people saying, thank you Rams! How foolish do I look now!

No one here is anywhere even remotely qualified to predict the asking price for Watson when trading resumes. However, I think we can safely say that it will not be 5 first round picks haha.

This is very true.

Nothing changed, because he never said that

It was only the same few posters who kept pushing the, "Watson doesn't want to come here" narrative.

100% absolutely true. He has never, ever said that. Not one time out of his mouth were those words spoken.

In on every deal, I am here for it. Sell the farm. No one, and I mean no one, could predict Stafford getting the big one in my opinion. Cry about the team money none of us own if you like. Without a competent QB, you go nowhere. Fact.

With a competent QB you go to the playoffs. And sometimes you get back to back winning seasons, which we have never done. Get a deal done at all costs!

It was never reported that Watson wouldn't waive his no-trade clause for Carolina.  All that was ever said was that as of the moment, Watson hadn't waived it (not that he would never do it).  Because guess what?  Miami was his #1 choice.  It never had anything to do with him flat-out not wanting to come to Carolina... but the same posters kept pushing that same narrative no matter how many times it was disputed.

You’re awesome

This place has become a cesspool of parroting half truths so posters can keep the shitty narratives going.

Inept?  They've been in the hunt since McVay was hired as head coach.  They went all in on that team because they were on the cusp.  That doesn't mean every trash heap team should go all in on a Matt Stafford level QB.

Fair point, poor chioce of a word on my end. But the fact remains they went all in. Bet the fuging farm to win the big one. Two 1sts and a third. And got the goddamn job done!

The Panthers will never have balls like that.

Edit: I stand corrected after thinking of it. They DID go all in on Stafford. The Rams beat us out.

Maybe they do.

    • One economist says you can retire on just $50,000-$100,000 in total savings, citing experience of actual retirees as evidence 85% of retirement-age Americans (65 to 74) said they were "living comfortably, or at least doing OK" when asked how well they were doing financially Only 15% said they were struggling. The finding matters, Biggs says, because most retirees have much less than $1 million in the bank. In the federal survey, the typical senior who reported a satisfactory retirement had $50,000 to $100,000 in savings. “It’s impossible to find any evidence that seniors need even a fraction of $1.46 million in savings to be financially secure,” Biggs wrote. By his argument, retirees don’t need nearly so much savings as financial planners say they do. source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2024/06/07/retire-without-a-million-dollars/73969717007/
    • Nobody is asking you to root for him.  We (or at least I am) are asking you to stop derailing every single thread by bringing up Bryce Young. And you do this constantly.  And this isn't me saying that we shouldn't have negative takes about Bryce on this forum, so before you accuse of me of trying to eliminate negative posts about Bryce, that isn't the case at all.  However, to me, it is weird to come into a thread that was about highlighting our offseason/OTAs, and unprompted, you go into bashing Bryce Young.  There are at least 5 other threads on the first page alone where you could have trashed Bryce.  And you know this, because you have in all of them threads. You're a smart guy from what I can tell but your disdain for Bryce has become obnoxious, even if you are right about him.  If a Bryce fan bombarded every single thread to talk about how good they felt he was, you wouldn't like it.  I know this because anytime this discussion happens you bring up "Bryce fanboys," when in fact everything you accuse them of doing?  You do the same thing except from the opposite side.
